Crazy reading so many fans on the board with this.

We already have veteran leadership, we don't need a player just a couple years younger than Witten that offers no upside hurting the development of our younger players.

Give me Rico, Swaim or even Hanna on the field before any 30+ year old outsider. Witten is hardly going to leave the field as it is...so what extra snaps there is should go to a player we put an investment in.

Barnidge is a solid player. Not sure why the Browns cut him, even with drafting Njoku.

Not much of a blocker, though.

Cleveland? Who knows what that team is thinking. The Browns are basically Russia, a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. Sitting $50M under the cap, paying Osweiler $16M and cutting Barnidge to save $2M on the cap. Unless Barnidge is injured or something we don't know.

Hanna and Gathers can't be counted on.
Bring him in and cause some secondary mismatches.

32 year old tight ends with one good season are not really in style. Barnidge only became relevant because McCown fed him the ball...his career without McCown is below average. He is no longer needed as a backup.

Why?

Barnidge has never been dependable in his career without Josh McCown....a player with one good season under his belt when the only receivers to speak of on the team were Brian Hartline and Travis Benjamin will not make this team any better. If Barnidge was a freak athlete, I would understand but he is a progress stopper.

Give me a young guy with upside over an aging vet with one good season for any position on the team.

Nailed it.

We're fine with Witten, Swaim and Gathers.

Funny New England doesn't act this way

Funny New England doesn't act this way

New England signs average players in their 30s with one good season under their belt to take snaps away from young players that may be their TE of the future? Example?

New England is one of the best teams in the league at developing young talent. They would choose an UDFA over a veteran any day. They may want a veteran behind Gronk...who knows? Difference is Gronk is their TE of the future.

Barnidge is a victim of playing on sorry team. His numbers are better than they are sort of like how RW11 looked better in Detroit than he looked here
