Cribbs adds making Hall of Fame to his career checklist

BEREA — Joshua Cribbs made the Pro Bowl last season as a kick returner. His new goal? The Hall of Fame.
"I want to raise the limits for myself," Cribbs explained. "If I say I'm going to make the Hall of Fame, along the way, in trying to reach that goal, I'm going to make a lot of achievements for me and my team.
"I'm trying to be 'the' guy, I'm not trying to be 'a' guy in the NFL."
Uh, better not commission that bust just yet.
Cribbs, trying to convince the Browns to use him more as a receiver, dropped two passes within minutes during the morning minicamp practice Tuesday, June 10.
Oh well, it's only minicamp, as Cribbs was quick to point out.
"It's all the learning process," he said. "We're all getting back into the groove, working out the cobwebs. It's not a game. I have time to correct it."
Cribbs is getting a good look on offense because Donte Stallworth (funeral) and Joe Jurevicius (rehabbing from knee surgery) are unavailable this week.
Early trash talk
Cribbs said he "feels great" about the Browns' opener against the Dallas Cowboys "because everybody thinks (Dallas) is supposed to win."
The teams meet Sept. 7 at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
"Everybody thinks they're the team that can do it all, and that's great," Cribbs said. "Because they're not looking at us. And we love that.
"Who do you think is going to be more relaxed on that day to win the football game? I think there's more pressure on them than us. When you're playing with no pressure on your back, you can do a lot of great things on the football field."
Look who's here
Tight end Kellen Winslow, as promised in a YouTube video by celebrity agent Drew Rosenhaus, indeed made it to minicamp rather than be fined for missing the mandatory event.
Winslow refused interviews, however, adding to the various mysteries surrounding him such as the true extent of his February knee surgery and whether he plans to demand a new contract.
"He showed up, so we'll work with him," head coach Romeo Crennel said. "Maybe if he was with us (for voluntary training) he would've been back to his old self, but he wasn't here, so we have to deal with him now that he's here."
End zones
• Tight end Steve Heiden (back surgery) seemed to be moving well in limited activity.
• He hopes it's better, but Crennel said the defense won't look much different under new coordinator Mel Tucker: "There will be minute changes and differences, but basically it's a 3-4 defense."
• With Brandon McDonald (funeral) excused, recently signed veteran Terry Cousin paired with Eric Wright at cornerback on the No. 1 defense.
• Play of the day: Backup quarterback Brady Quinn hit rookie tight end Martin Rucker in stride down the seam for a long gainer.
