Bruce carter pass situations DE or LB

where is he more valuable to you? He seems to have the quickness and rush moves we need (alot of slow power rushers). Or do we need him in pass coverage more?

What would you do? Does he play nickle?

I almost consider moving him to de in passrushing situations. move church to nickle lb and get a safety in there with some range. Maybe the safety with range is hamilton but please no spiller please, he completely sucks.

Using Pro Football Focus' stats, Bruce Carter has the following.

Week 1: 1 sack
Week 2: 1 QB hit, 1 QB hurry
Week 3: 1 QB hit
Week 4-14: 0 sacks, 0 QB hits, 0 QB hurries

I'd like the team to give Carter some rush snaps as a Nickel end on passing downs.

We don't have anyone with the ability to generate quick pressure as an edge rusher. If Carter can give anything to the base four man pass rush, it needs to be given a chance.

I think we should blitz him more use him to rush on 3rd downs use his athleticism on rushing rather than covering cause that's when he goes crazy, while we can cause he's gone after this year

Jerry mentioned the possibility of Carter as a pass rusher when talking about the blocked punt.

IIRC, McClain and Hitchens played most of the Nickel LB snaps, but Carter did play some of them later in the game.

If he rushes the QB, it would likely be as the SLB in the base defense, not as 1 of the 2 Nickel LBs.

Time to move on, he'll give you high hopes four times a year and disapear the other twelve.

I would be good with that. It's definitely worth a try on 3rd and long.

He is but he probably is our best pass rushing LB as well. The way he rushes the punter, I can see him doing well given the right situation (down and distance)

The reason he has not been used is probably the same reason his playing time at LB has been cut into.

He is not reliable and gives inconsistent effort. Despite the lack of talent on the DL, Marinelli pretty much insists on effort and I do not believe he is much of a fan of Carter's.

Why move him to DE when one of his weaknesses is he cannot get off the block well and that is in the open field. Line him up against a OT where they know he will be he would give up the edge on every draw sweep.

I would like to see more opportunities for Carter in rushing the passer. I would hope that the coaching staff would considering how poor the pass rush has been. You can't give QB all day to throw.
