Bruce Carter said it was a coaches' decision that kept him on the sideline

Weakside linebacker Bruce Carter was standing on the sideline, helmet in hand, most of the second half. Head coach Jason Garrett intimated Carter was injured. Defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin said it was all part of the team’s plan to get Ernie Sims in the game. Carter said it was a coaches’ decision.

“It’s my job as a player just to go out there and play and just go out there and do the best I can,” Carter said. “That’s out of my control.”

The only thing for certain is Carter was a mismatch in coverage against the 5-foot-8, 200-pound Danny Woodhead out of the backfield. Woodhead beat Carter for a 26-yard touchdown in the first quarter, and then, after Woodhead’s 13-yard score against Carter in the third quarter pulled the Chargers to within 21-20, Carter wasn’t seen on the field again.

"I could have done a lot better on some of my coverages, staying on top," Carter said.

So did I but I blame it partially on the coaching staff. I don't know why we kept allowing the Chargers to match Carter up against Woodhead in man to man coverage. It's a complete mismatch and it happened more than once, one time for a TD.

How does one prevent a RB coming out of the backfield for a route and not match a corner on him?

Carter should have had safety help.

That's what they are there fore in a Cover 2.

I said this during the week we have been playing with fire putting carter outside each week with the other teams backs and tight ends, we were lucky Sam Bradford is terrible or he would have took advantage of it last week.

It was just a matter of time and now it will be a point of emphasis for opponents the rest of the way,

RB's out of the backfield killed Dallas the ENTIRE game, this was a sad defensive effort in the 2nd half.

If this was a Bradie James or Keith Brooking, this type of move would make sense, but this kid had his 1st really rough game in the NFL & is going to learn from it and get better, I kinda hated seeing that move made. I hope this was just sending a message to get his head 100% in the game & nothing more.

More than anything, this is the start of a downward spiral. We very well could be officially finished. Especially after Mannning gets finished performing surgery on us
