Wilber played DE in college and was moved to LB and it has worked out for him, Ware was DE in college and it panned out for him as a LB.

We know Carter can play LB, but he has not played like we or the coaches have expected him to play, so give him a shot at rushing the QB, make him a specialist as a pass rusher. It cannot hurt, it might work out.

As long as they have the Hayden and rookies in the lineup at DT the LBs just aren't going to look good. And for all the trashing Carter has gotten, none of them look good.

That is an excellent. point. We are so unsettled up front, we aren't doing any of the LB's any favors.

Bishop was driven back right into Hitchens. LBs have no chance if the 1 tech is blown off the line like that.

I didn't think that had anything to do with Barry. He got picked off by the HB lined up behind the RT.

I agree. I have asked broadus if they are considering that. So far doesnt seem that way.

Bruce Carter is 6'1-1/2". Wilber and Ware are 6'4".

I still think Church should be our WLB. He plays with more guts than anyone and isn't afraid to stick his head in on a tackle.

As far as Carter to DE is concerned, I say why not. His speed can create problems for tackles.

The combine has him listed at 6-2 but that's insignificant to 6-1 1/2. Here's his combine weakness writeup:

WEAKNESSES
Lacks the bulk to consistently take on blocks and struggles to disengage. Possesses less than ideal instincts and is a step slow reacting to the play. Not overly aggressive and waits for the play to come to him at times. Does not have a repertoire of counter moves when pass rushing and is too easily stymied.

Went there for his height and saw the above. Interesting to read this now. Same thing some have said about him. He can rush from OLB but he doesn't turn the corner nor is he able to get off blocks.

Bishop shouldn't get blamed for that play. He wasn't perfect, but as the right side DT on a run to the defensive left, he is in backside pursuit while engaged with 2 blockers. He still almost intercepts the RB.

The primary problem was the other DT, Coleman. The LDE didn't do a great job. Durant has outside contain, but he lost track of the runner. Hitchens needed to recognize that both Carter and Church had the right side and that he needed to get on the left side of the OL coming down the field.

It might look like Bishop it getting blown up, but that's not really accurate, IMO.
