On twitter I saw someone ask Bryan if Johnny manziel was available at 16 would we draft him and Bryan replied yes. So then I jumped into the tweet and said there is no way jerry is that stupid and I bet my next paycheck that wouldn't happen.

BB asked me what my profession was and I told him I was in the navy. At which point he made me a bet over whether we would draft Johnny in the first round if we did I have to give him a signed cover(hat) from my command but if we don't he is giving me a signed cowboys hat. I agreed to the terms.

While it will be cool to win that hat off him it also concerns me a bit. For Bryan to make a bet off such an idiotic draft pick I wonder does he have some inside information that we don't know about? I literally CANNOT describe how SICK I will be if we waste our 1st rounder on a backup qb. Any thoughts on this????

If manziel gets taken before Dallas, you still win?

I'd be okay with the Johnny pick of they've done their due diligence. I don't think this draft and a mediocre free agency is going to turn things around, gotta think more long term.

That's pretty cool. Let's hope you win the hat rather than him. The idea of Johnny on the bench with all our needs is definitely a scary thought. I agree with BB that if he is there I can definitely see JJ pulling the trigger. He would be a cash cow.

Thanks for serving and putting your arse on the line! Really appreciate it!

Really burned the Packers to take a backup QB in the first round when Favre was aging.

The Packers were coming off a season where they fielded the worst defense in the NFL and worst in team history right? Oh.....

Haha yeah I hope I win the hat as well. Romo ain't dead yet, address qb situation in a later draft maybe in a year we aren't coming off the 32nd ranked defense lol.

Thank you for the support.

Very cool stuff man, how awesome would that be to have a Cowboys hat signed with the likes of Dez, Tony, Witten, Smith, ect; I hope you win your bet man, because I don't want Johnny Football at all. He wouldn't help us for the 2-3 years(at least) and nowadays first round draft picks are immediate starters. If we did draft Johnny, we didn't get better on an atrocious defense, and we didn't get better on offense. It would be a move that's just for entertaining purposes only as Johnny is a lightning rod (especially for Texas) and he'd bring BIG ticket sales to Jerry. Which scares me because we all know how Jerry is, he's a business man.

Jerry knows that it would sell tickets + jerseys. More revenue = More profit. Jerry would sell his own urine and proclaim it a medicinal cure if it will give him an extra 0 in his bank account.

That being said, I think JM will go before us making it a moot point.

So you think one rookie defensive player is going to take this team to the SB? Not saying Manziel will but the QB position is the most important and you have to start thinking about the future especially considering Romo is 34 and coming off two back surgeries. If he's there at 16 you take him.

Jones loves Manziel. I think he will justify the pick. Needing a quarterback to groom with Romo's bad back would be the primarily justification I would think. The only thing that would counter that scenario is if another team offered up a deal for the pick that Jones couldn't refuse.

Completely different time and situation. If I recall correctly, Favre was thinking of "retiring", and drafted 1st round QBs could sit on the bench for a few years back then. They need to start immediately today.

Rodgers was taken 24th not 16. At that point, it probably made sense, to take the #2 QB off the board.
