A first round pick is a 5 year deal and I can see Romo with three good years in him.
Would JFB sit quietly that long?
They can make the cap work out OK.
The team keeps rolling after Romo.
It could implode or explode I don't know.
It's a Jerry kinda "WoW".

I'm draft drunk. I get this way about this time every year

If Manziel is available at 16th i'm sure Dallas takes him, Jerry would not be able to resist the temptation.

Really burned the Packers to take a backup QB in the first round when Favre was aging.

Do you recall all the drama it caused? It was the furtherest thing from a seamless transition. Favre did not want to go and Rodgers trying to force his way into the starting lineup. The drama would be 10x worse in Dallas.

Look, I love JFF and think he will be great, but unless Romo's back is really seriously jacked-up, it would be dumb to draft him. There will be other talented QBs coming out when we are really ready to move on and Romo's extension is nearing the point where we can break ways in a financially responsible manner. At that point, with a rookie QB, would it not be better to have a solid Defense and O-line?

We had Demarcus gosh darn ware, 10 season without missing a game, and still didn't do a thing.

Through wares time with us we went 9-7, 13-3, 9-7, 11-5 so while it's true we never won a SB we were not trash missing the playoffs every year. At least we were in contention. Draft players that can help us not sit on the bench for 3 years

On twitter I saw someone ask Bryan if Johnny manziel was available at 16 would we draft him and Bryan replied yes. So then I jumped into the tweet and said there is no way jerry is that stupid and I bet my next paycheck that wouldn't happen.

BB asked me what my profession was and I told him I was in the navy. At which point he made me a bet over whether we would draft Johnny in the first round if we did I have to give him a signed cover(hat) from my command but if we don't he is giving me a signed cowboys hat. I agreed to the terms.

While it will be cool to win that hat off him it also concerns me a bit. For Bryan to make a bet off such an idiotic draft pick I wonder does he have some inside information that we don't know about? I literally CANNOT describe how SICK I will be if we waste our 1st rounder on a backup qb. Any thoughts on this????

Johnny F is the future in big D. We have to go after him. I know it seems unpopular amongst the fans but we have a boatload of additional picks that could still shore up our defense. Like Jerry, I have been thinking long and hard about this. It can be accomplished. Some of us will be pissed off if we get JF but I see it as a strong investment in the future of this franchise. Keep him in Texas. Draft the seat filler.

Under this regime, with a top qb, and HOF pass rusher, we didn't sniff any real success. 500 for his career.

My point is it doesnt matter who we draft. Aaron Donald will be half as good as ware if he's lucky.

Relax, if the conditions do line up you're going to win. I don't know how many different ways Jerry has to say Romo is the "ticket" or that Manziel needs to play right away before people understand we're not drafting a QB there.

Can probably get a pick back next year for Romo when we take his cap hit by trading him. The year after that we're going to have our young QB, maybe 2 1st round draft picks and all kinds of cap space.

It's not like he'd be a backup forever. Spending a mid-first rounder on a potential franchise QB is great value and it boggles the mind to think people would forgo that option just because we might not need him immediately.

I'm guessing this is all about the people arguing against him not believing JF will turn out any good and are scared of blowing the pick altogether. Certainly, if we had a crystal ball and could see that yes, JF would turn out to be just as good as Aaron Rodgers, then the anti-JF people would change their minds and be all for getting JF at 16 then, right? If anybody would turn down Rodgers knowing how good he'd become just because he wouldn't play immediately, then they are just not right.

I guess it boils down to individual evaluations on if JF will work out and many don't think he will. I personally think he has a good shot, so if he is there at 16 then I will be hoping we get him myself.

Keep in mind that Jerry is a business minded person first and he sees the marketability that Manziel possesses. This will be an interesting night and I can't wait!

I don't think any of this will matter because JFF will be gone long before 16 ..Probably Cleveland or Minnesota

Sorry but I agree with BB. JJ will take him at 16. Have to draft Romo's replacement either this year or next, why not take a marketing dream....Jerry's thinking, not mine

Jerry would love nothing more than for Johnny to be the next face of the franchise. You can take that to the bank.

Drafting Manziel doesn't solve the absurd gap in talent at DE.

It would be a colossal blunder akin to the Bobby Carpenter pick.

If Manziel is there at 16 you can kiss that cover goodbye. The Jones' love Manziel. And he would be the BPA by far at 16.

Bad idea to take him or any other QB in the first; for Dallas. He's not even the best QB in this draft. Bortles, Carr and the kid from E IL are better NFL prospects IMO. The best Manziel is going to be is another Romo (which will be very good) but he's got too much bust on him for me. I wouldn't mind taking a QB on the last day. Murray of GA and Shaw of SC would make good backup QBs for sure and both could surprise and become starters. I like Shaw's speed and his arm is underrated IMO. Murray probably has a better arm but isn't a running threat. I like having a vet QB to turn to but I like the potential and cost of developing a QB more so.
