I don't think any of this will matter because JFF will be gone long before 16 ..Probably Cleveland or Minnesota

I think he will go as the number two or three QB although he could fall. I doubt it.

Sorry but I agree with BB. JJ will take him at 16. Have to draft Romo's replacement either this year or next, why not take a marketing dream....Jerry's thinking, not mine

Actually... With JF you have a double whammy.

1. A Texas marketing dream
2. A franchise QB that sets you up nicely for the next decade

JM in a Cowboys uniform would be money.

Money in JJ's pocket! Probably worse thing for Romo and franchise. Every time Romo throws an incompletion stadium will be yelling to pull him. I still remember Danny White and Gary Hogeboom and that torn the team apart. That would be child's play compare to what would happen in the age of twitter, FB!

On twitter I saw someone ask Bryan if Johnny manziel was available at 16 would we draft him and Bryan replied yes. So then I jumped into the tweet and said there is no way jerry is that stupid and I bet my next paycheck that wouldn't happen.

BB asked me what my profession was and I told him I was in the navy. At which point he made me a bet over whether we would draft Johnny in the first round if we did I have to give him a signed cover(hat) from my command but if we don't he is giving me a signed cowboys hat. I agreed to the terms.

While it will be cool to win that hat off him it also concerns me a bit. For Bryan to make a bet off such an idiotic draft pick I wonder does he have some inside information that we don't know about? I literally CANNOT describe how SICK I will be if we waste our 1st rounder on a backup qb. Any thoughts on this????

I would be concerned if he took the paycheck bet, but the hat will cost him Zero.

Remember that Jerry will go to great lengths to prove his previous decisions were correct. He desperately wants to prove that signing Romo to the mega-contract was a good move. Drafting Manziel would be an admission by Jerry that Romo is not worth the contract.

Broaddus is not known for accurate predictions.

Jerry won't be able to help himself and will chase the shiny new object and draft JF if he is still there. If that happens, my level of disappointment would be off the charts.

Drafting Manziel doesn't solve the absurd gap in talent at DE.
.

Nope, but Jerry Jones and Johnny Football both love to put on show...... it will be new ride at the amusement park known as Jerry's World....brought to you by the Dallas Cowboy Entertainment Industry.....Football is just entertainment...

Cleveland sure Minnesota no. I'd also like to point out they're pretty high on Hoyer out there and he is still young so I'm not entirely sure they will even make that pick. If I recall he was pretty fun to watch and he was 3-0 it's hard to argue that he won't be a pretty solid player. JMO

All things being equal, the most valuable position on a team is QB.
Any 1st round pick/selection is based on potential ~ whether DL, QB, OL, etc. There are no guarantees on any player drafted.

Given Romo's age & reoccurring health issues, why is it not foreseeable to draft a potential franchise QB (whether Bortles, Bridgewater or Manziel)?
Moreover, the bad contract Jerry gave Romo last year should not preclude the selection of a QB at 16 (Dallas drafted Dez in '10 when Roy Williams and Miles Austin had 'bad' contracts).
Take the salary cap hit in 2015 (or find a team willing to trade for Romo and re-work his contract to facilitate the transaction) and move on.

If the choice is between Jernigan, Zack Martin, Shazier or Manziel, go with the QB.
Regardless if Dallas does not select a QB at 16 , Dallas should be looking at QB's to draft in subsequent rounds.

It is not uncommon for teams to transition to a new QB ~ San Fran moved on from Alex Smith, Seattle moved on from Hasselbeck, Eagles moved on from McNabb, Carolina transitioned from Delhomne to drafting Newton, Falcons drafted Matt Ryan, Green Bay drafted Rogers, Skins drafted RGIII, Rams drafted Bradford, Lions drafted Stafford.

Is it not best to be proactive rather than reactive?

Walker my dude I respectfully disagree. I don't bieber this has anything to do with any mistake over Romo. I think it has to do with the future of the position and Jerry getting the guy he wants for the team over the next decade. If Romo plays another 2 years and retires at the age of 36 and JFB plays and plays well JJ will look like a (barf) genius. Now if Romo suffers injury again and misses time and JFB plays well JJ will again (barf) look a genius. So it's a gamble he's willing to take

There is a good chance you will lose the bet.

I think Manziel is going to be a bum as an NFL quarterback but if the scouts say he's a franchise QB you've got to take him

I have not seen Manziel play much, but how is he more Russell Wilson or Tim Tebow? He seems more Tebow to me.

Can probably get a pick back next year for Romo when we take his cap hit by trading him. The year after that we're going to have our young QB, maybe 2 1st round draft picks and all kinds of cap space.

No way would any team offer us a first round pick for Romo who would be 35 by then.

I have no problem with drafting a backup QB who will take over in two years. I have a problem with drafting a QB who will never become a legit starter. Give me Teddy instead.
