So the question is....IF Donald and Manziel are both there at 16 who would we pick? This would really tell whether Jerry has learned anything or not

That's actually a good question because if we did pick Donald, that would be an absolute revelation for Jethro.

Think of all the jerseys Johnny Boy could sell. All the tickets. All the Johnny bobbleheads.

Or, we could draft a DT. What would The Kool Aid Kid do?

While it will be cool to win that hat off him it also concerns me a bit. For Bryan to make a bet off such an idiotic draft pick I wonder does he have some inside information that we don't know about? I literally CANNOT describe how SICK I will be if we waste our 1st rounder on a backup qb. Any thoughts on this????

It's not like he bet the deed for his house or his mortgage money. To be honest, he would probably enjoy being wrong if it meant giving some cowboys gear to a navy man.

Actually, as depressing as it is, I think deep down we both know the answer

I love romo and all, but we know full well we have a clear glass ceiling with him. It's time to plan for the future at the most important position. If Manziel is there, he needs to be the pick

I love Johnny, I think he's awesome but I really have no idea if he will translate into the NFL. I don't want a QB in the first round but at 16, I think that's value and I don't see Dallas passing on him. Jerry gushes over JF. JF wears Cowboy stuff all the time, he's local, it's a perfect match and Jerry will enjoy making mad money off of him. It would suck for poor Romo because there will be instant QB controversy and any time the guy makes a mistake, they will call for Johnny. It would be a distraction. They'd probably trade or cut Romo in a year or two though if they take Johnny that high.

Luckily, I don't think he gets anywhere near us. I wouldn't be upset if they took him at 16 because thats too good to pass up but if they trade up, that's a problem. We need starters badly.

Really burned the Packers to take a backup QB in the first round when Favre was aging.

Yes let's use the most extreme positive example there is. Also GB was a much better team at that time with far less holes than the Cowboys are today.

On twitter I saw someone ask Bryan if Johnny manziel was available at 16 would we draft him and Bryan replied yes. So then I jumped into the tweet and said there is no way jerry is that stupid and I bet my next paycheck that wouldn't happen.

BB asked me what my profession was and I told him I was in the navy. At which point he made me a bet over whether we would draft Johnny in the first round if we did I have to give him a signed cover(hat) from my command but if we don't he is giving me a signed cowboys hat. I agreed to the terms.

dude...think you will lose. JJ is enamored with him. That's pretty clear by now. Hope you win though...I don't want to draft him, especially that high.

Please, those of you so enamored with Manziel that you need to call him JFF (why two "f's"?), JFB or anything else need to remember that this was in college where he shined...start calling him JCFB if you want things to be accurate, otherwise, his jersey will say Manziel on it wherever he plays

...IMO, drafting him would be a mistake at #16 and would be ludicrous to move up to get him...if, by some chance, they trade down from #16, get into the 20's while picking up an extra 2nd rounder (for example), then I could almost be on board...it still wouldn't change the fact that he would sit as a back up and we would lose the benefit of the most cost-effective years for a #1 draft pick....

More like some of us are lazy so would rather type JF ( not sure why some type JFF, unless that middle F refers to a certain word we can't type ) instead of Manziel.

While true he could very well never adjust to the pro game, I've come around to the fact we are very unlikely to ever become Super Bowl competitors while Jerry is in charge anyway and I refuse to stop rooting for the Boys regardless, we might as well let ourselves be entertained.

Personally, I think JF could become a great QB, or at least a Kaepernick level type player. So I'm okay with him. And even if not, we will not have to worry about not finding enough to read about the Cowboys on the internet for quite awhile. We already get a lot of press. Add JF, and multiply that by a factor of 5, lol.

Now, THIS would be the one scenario where I'd be with the majority on JF ( as in against drafting him ). Donald is my #1 hope.

Thanks for your service!
I expect this was a very safe bet for Bryan to make. UNLESS Dallas gets a great trade offer at 16 for him.

But the good news is I suspect there is about 0% chance Manziel is available at 16.

Was always going to be a long shot but after Russell Wilson showed what an athletic shorter QB could do it was church.

You act like filling a franchise QB hole is the same as filling every other hole on a team. It is not - it is usually much harder. If you have a shot of drafting a franchise QB when your current QB is approaching retirement, you have to take that shot. If you wait until your current QB is completely finished, you might get stuck with a Weeden, a Ponder, a Gabbert, etc. (i.e. a QB you have to reach for and settle for because the top ones were already taken by your pick that year when you were QB desperate).

Of course I'm sure your opinion of JF differs from mine which is the true reason you don't want us to pick him, which is fine. You might end up being right. We will see. Doesn't change my desire to not go back to the Quincy Carter years where we waste years on a big reach at QB because Jerry was desperate at the time.

also JS, I'd send him that signed hat regardless you might be surprised by the return.
Bryan seems a genuinely good guy.
