The past 30 days have not been so “lucky” for former Cowboys wide receiver Lucky Whitehead.

During that span, he lost his dog, was arrested for a crime he didn’t commit and released by the Cowboys because of the crime he didn’t commit.

Now he has a broken foot.

Whitehead was claimed by the New York Jets on waivers, but the chances of making the team took a hit after he broke his foot during Monday’s practice. Lucky just can’t catch a break.

Before the Ezekiel Elliott suspension, Whitehead was the talk of Cowboys training camp. However, it wasn’t a good thing. His name and information was used by a criminal in Virginia, which resulted in a warrant for failing to appear in court. He was cut by the Cowboys after the warrant went public and before authorities realized the case of mistaken identity. Whitehead said he wasn’t in Virginia at the time of the crime but the Cowboys didn’t believe him.

Chances were Whitehead was on the bubble anyways concerning his position on the field after the Cowboys selected speedy wide receiver/kick returner Ryan Switzer in the fourth round of this year’s NFL Draft. The drama didn’t help, even if it wasn’t all his fault.

Jets head coach Todd Bowles said no decision has been made on whether Whitehead needs surgery but that the wideout will be out for an extended period of time.
