The NFL has filed an opposition Monday to an attempt by the player's union to overturn Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott's six game suspension.

Judges from the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Thursday to vacate the injunction filed by the NFL Players Association on behalf of Elliott to overturn his suspension for violation of the NFL's player conduct policy.

As of Monday morning, Elliott is on the NFL's suspended list, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Clarence Hill, and will remain suspended barring another ruling in Elliott's favor.

Attorneys for Ezekiel Elliott have indicated they intend to ask for another hearing before the federal appeals court that cleared the way for the NFL's six-game suspension of the star Dallas Cowboys running back over allegations of domestic violence.

Players union attorney Jeffrey Kessler wrote to a federal judge in New York on Friday that Elliott's legal team would pursue a hearing before a larger panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans.

The judge overseeing Ezekiel Elliott's suspension case said the case cannot move forward until a rehearing is filed and resolved, according to Pro-Football Talk.

A source told Pro-Football Talk that the U.S. District Court Judge Amos L. Mazzant informed the NFL that he will not lift the injunction that is currently preventing the suspension until the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit rules on Elliott's petition for rehearing.
