The saga involving the personal conduct investigation into Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott takes yet another interesting turn.

On FS1’s Undisputed, Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter claims to have inside information concerning the probe, saying ‘In the next 48 hours, I would be shocked if Zeke was not suspended.”

Carter added that the punishment will be similar to the four-game suspension New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady received for Deflategate.

However, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell seemed to throw some water on Carter’s hot take, telling Newsday’s Bob Glauber, “We haven't made any decisions yet.”

Goodell also fired back at Carter, saying “I don’t think Cris has anything to do with the decision.”

But wait, there’s more.

Elliott’s father, Stacey Elliott, jumped in and sounded off on the situation. He posted a tweet with the message stating, "All your lies and plots will fail! I don't speak out of emotions! I speak out of actual facts! So ready for the show down!"

The investigation centers on domestic abuse accusations in July 2016 made by a female acquaintance of Ezekiel Elliott in Columbus, Ohio. Elliott was not arrested and never charged. He’s proclaimed his innocence with the Cowboys backing him from the beginning. However, the NFL never closed their investigation into the allegations.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has maintained that evidence shows Elliott’s innocence but also indicted in recent weeks that a decision on the matter was imminent.

Now with the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction weekend - involving Jones and the Cowboys - over with, the league could act quickly on a decision concerning a possible Elliott suspension.
