Tony Romo officially ended any potential quarterback controversy yesterday by saying Dak Prescott deserves to be the Cowboys starting quarterback.

As expected, Prescott took all the first team snaps on Wednesday. It's amazing to think that in just nine games, a 4th round rookie has overtaken the franchise's most prolific passer.

The quarterback job is Prescott's, now and for the future.

"I don't want to let anyone down. I don't want to let my coaches down, my family down, Cowboys fans and that's the way I approach everyday. As I said yesterday in the press conference, it makes no difference in how I've been going about my business," said Prescott. "Tony knows that, we've talked about that. It's just the way this team is, and the way the team gives me support to just keep doing what I've been doing."

His longtime teammate, Jason Witten, admitted that Romo's message was good to hear for the entire team.

"For the words he said about Dak and the way he addressed it, I think it's great for everyone," said Witten.

Even with Romo back, Prescott is not in danger of losing the job. A bad game or two will not change how the Cowboys feel about their rookie quarterback.

"We certainly don't want any player looking over their shoulders when they play. We want to instill confidence in them going into the game. And one of the best things Dak has done is handle the ups and downs of a ballgame," said Jason Garrett.

The head coach also said that Romo needs to prepare to play. The decision has been made and now it's time to get ready for the next opponent. Romo is one play away from entering a game.
