Sometimes an act of kindness is all that is needed to bright someone’s day during a tough time in their life. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott provided that moment to a young fan and his family in Mississippi.

The fan is 10-year old Nash Durr, the son of Deputy William Durr, who was killed in the line of duty after answering a domestic violence call on May 27 in Brookhaven, Miss. Deputy Durr was one of eight people killed in the shooting spree.

The Durr family is huge Mississippi State football fans. The photo released by the family after his death showed Durr, his wife, Tressie and Nash wearing Mississippi State gear. Nash had on Prescott’s No. 15 jersey.

Word got back to Prescott over what happened. He saw the photo and wanted to meet Nash.

So, Tressie told her young son that they were going out of town for a family trip, according to The Clarion-Ledger. However, they went and met Prescott instead.

Prescott posed for pictures and spent time with the family. Afterwards, the family said that Prescott’s kindness brought out a little happiness during their time of sorrow.

It would be hard to explain how much it means for a 10-year old boy to meet his sports hero during a difficult time and see how someone like Prescott cares and shows support. It’s something that will make an impact on Nash Durr for the rest of his life.

And that’s what Prescott does, both on and off the field. He makes a difference.
