The playoffs are giving North Texans a huge boost in Dallas Cowboys fever.
The students at Dallas ISD’s Skyline High School are taking their “silver and blue spirit” to a whole new level. In light of the first playoff game against the Green Bay Packers, there is a friendly wager between the principal of Skyline High School and the principal of Southwest High School in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Both principals have agreed to to dress up as each other’s rivals if the opponents team wins.
Rod Bohm, who is the principal at Southwest High School will dress up in Dallas Cowboys gear if Green Bay loses. “If things don’t go in our favor I’ll have to wear a cheese head,” said Dr. Janice Lombardi who is the principal at Skyline.
Her last name caused a bit of confusion with the principal in Wisconsin. Vince Lombardi was the head coach for Green Bay in the 60’s, and led the NFL team to five Championships in seven years. “The principal at Southwest High School couldn’t believe it at first, because of my last name. There is no relation to ‘Vince Lombardi,’ except that his name has been on a super bowl trophy and we’re gonna bring the Championship trophy back here to Dallas,” she said.
The Friday before the first playoff game Skyline’s band, cheerleaders, dance team, and football players dressed in their favorite Cowboy’s paraphernalia for “Spirit Day.”
“This is a friendly bet. We wanted to support good sportsmanship, and comradery among the students,” said Dr. Lombardi.
Skyline High School is the largest school in the district, with over 5,000 students.
