Here is where the Cowboys are being ranked.

We are just about at the halfway point on the season for the entire NFL and the Dallas Cowboys have two wins to their name. Technically, the season will be halfway over for America’s Team come Sunday night after their primetime (yes, really) matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. That is still a few days away, and in the here and now it is hard to see the Cowboys beating anyone.

The team’s latest defeat also came within the division as they fell to the Washington Football Team on Sunday. Such a performance has many people doubting the legitimacy of the team entering Week 8 and it is hard to disagree with any of the power rankings from around the world in that respect.

Let’s discuss those power rankings. You can view last week’s right here.

1 - Seattle Seahawks (LW: 1)

Obviously they lost, but this team is still incredible on offense. As long as Russell Wilson is there they are tough to beat.

2 - Pittsburgh Steelers (LW: 4)

The best team in the AFC.

3 - Kansas City Chiefs (LW: 2)

Their offense is sneakily trying to find itself. Thankfully they have a lot of talent elsewhere.

4 - Baltimore Ravens (LW: 3)

It will be a lot of fun to see them play the Steelers this week.

5 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers (LW: 6)

They have found themselves. Adding Antonio Brown certainly will make them all the more interesting.

6 - Green Bay Packers (LW: 7)

Aaron Rodgers is back. It hurts. It hurts everywhere.

7 - Tennessee Titans (LW: 5)

Hardly any shame in losing to Pittsburgh. They remain one of the top teams in the NFL.

8 - Buffalo Bills (LW: 9)

Good teams win, even in ugly fashion.

9 - Arizona Cardinals (LW: 12)

They are a legitimate force in the NFC. The NFC West might send all four teams to the postseason.

10 - New Orleans Saints (LW: 13)

No matter what they find a way. Must be nice.

12 - San Francisco 49ers (LW: 14)

They are so confusing, but they find ways to win.

12 - Los Angeles Rams (LW: 10)

Their wins have come against the NFC East and lowly Bears. But they are doing what they need to do and that is commendable.

13 - Cleveland Browns (LW: 18)

Losing Odell Beckham Jr. will hurt, but this offense has a lot of places to turn to.

14 - Las Vegas Raiders (LW: 11)

A regression back to the norm?

15 - Indianapolis Colts (LW: 15)

No harm, no foul.

16 - Chicago Bears (LW: 8)

The regression has begun.

17 - Miami Dolphins (LW: 17)

It’s Tua time.

18 - Carolina Panthers (LW: 19)

Matt Rhule is impressing in season number one.

19 - Los Angeles Chargers (LW: 20)

How did Washington pass on Justin Herbert? Imagine if they’d had him on Sunday!

20 - Detroit Lions (LW: 24)

The poor Atlanta Falcons.

21 - Philadelphia Eagles (LW: 23)

Wins are wins. It’s Eagles week around here, though.

22 - New England Patriots (LW: 16)

If any team can find a way to navigate these troubling waters, it is them.

23 - Denver Broncos (LW: 21)

There is no more blah team in the NFL at the moment.

24 - Houston Texans (LW: 22)

They wouldn’t really trade JJ Watt, would they?

25 - Atlanta Falcons (LW: 25)

See number 20.

26 - Washington Football Team (LW: 31)

They ended the Cowboys. Sigh.

27 - Minnesota Vikings (LW: 27)

Trading someone whom you just acquired is a sure sign of giving up on the season. Organic tanking, as they say.

28 - Cincinnati Bengals (LW: 29)

They may have lost, but they clearly have something in Joe Burrow.

29 - Jacksonville Jaguars (LW: 30)

What a weird time for them.

30 - Dallas Cowboys (LW: 26)

A disgrace.

31 - New York Giants (LW: 28)

Daniel Jones gave us a meme that we will use forever.

32 - New York Jets (LW: 32)

J-E-T-S.

So it begins.

More embarrassment for the Cowboys on Sunday, this time in the form of a 25-3 loss to a Washington Football Team that shouldn’t be blowing anyone out in 2020. Dallas is a complete mess, and it got messier when Andy Dalton was knocked out of action on an illegal hit by Washington linebacker Jon Bostic. After the game, Mike McCarthy called out his own team for not rallying around Dalton or getting after Bostic, who stood pretty much off on his own while Dalton was attended to and eventually carted off the field. The Cowboys are somehow still in the mix in a ridiculously watered-down NFC East, but this feels like a team that’s burning down from the inside out.

The worldwide leader noted a player that needs to step up for every team. They chose Jaylon Smith for the Cowboys.

Who needs to step up: LB Jaylon Smith

Just one? Well, then it’s Smith. Or DeMarcus Lawrence. But let’s stick with Smith. Don’t be fooled by his tackle stats. He has not made impact plays, and he has been poor in coverage and out of position. He was added to the Pro Bowl last year, but his best season was in 2018. If Smith does not improve, he might be a salary-cap casualty in 2021. He is set to make $7.2 million next season, which becomes fully guaranteed on the fifth day of the league year. Given how the season has played out, nobody is safe; the Cowboys could move on from Smith if he does not pick up his performance. — Todd Archer

WE ARE NOT LAST!

Are we really already talking about replacing Mike McCarthy? Dallas could be alone in first place next week with a win at Philadelphia.

This is who we are now.

This season is more *** for them after another lifeless performance capped by Andy Dalton going down with a scary injury. Jerry Jones really needs to re-examine the culture of his team with Mike McCarthy, because the vibes are not good.

Again... not last!

The Cowboys were bad with Dak Prescott. They were even worse with Andy Dalton. We need to remember this if “but the Cowboys suffered injuries to their top two quarterbacks” becomes an excuse.

Only a drop of one here.

They are awful. The offense is now a mess. The defense is terrible. Yet they are still in the NFC East race heading into Philadelphia this week.
Sports Illustrated: 24 (LW: 25)

They... rose?

On Monday their defensive coordinator missed a media conference call because he accidentally rubbed Tobasco sauce in his eye. So that’s about where this team is at right now.
