I found it interesting they were playing 8 in the box the whole game

Yeah, I heard Nate and Broaddus both mention that on the podcasts. I know a lot of fans here thought there was some major adjustment made by the Falcons at halftime. The difference really came down to their guys playing better in the second half, while ours couldn't maintain their initial level. The adjustment would have been if we got them out of 8 in the box, but we never could. That's the price for dinking and dunking.

Yeah, I know Leary was out... but I wonder how much of this was due to the Oline not playing together as a group much in training camp.

That wouldn't explain some of the gaffes single players were making. I get cohesion and making the right play, but we were seeing Collins look terrible in space blocking LB's. And no, he didn't have a very good game overall.

Frederick getting outmuscled, Martin committing weak chop blocks.

That's more than cohesion and gelling and whatnot.

Although I do agree with you...

You're absolutely right on the cohesion thing.

But I was also thinking that just from a playing standpoint individually there was a bunch of time missed... Free missed a bunch of time. Martin missed the last couple of weeks. Smith was out a couple of weeks.

I wonder if the o-line missed having Romo make the line calls or if the scheme was simplified because of Collins. No matter the cause, it looks like there were too many individual mistakes. Those have to be cleaned up before Sunday night.

They missed romos direction and the fear he puts in a defense. Evey defense knows if you chase romo down, chances are you get burned.

I think the writer has a vivid imagination on some of those plays.

On play #8, he tries to say the DE was holding Free, but that's just not true. Free ran past the DE to be certain to be on the front side and then tried to turn around to block him but couldn't.

If Free had blocked the DE, then Randle's decision is perfect and he has a chance for a huge gain depending on the defender that Collins is blocking. The man Collins is blocking comes off his block on the play as is, but I think the timing would have been such that Randle would be past him if Free's man had been blocked.

On the deep throw to Williams, Collins block is good enough. It was incomplete because Williams was double covered. Meanwhile, Escobar was wide open 20 yards down in the middle of the field.
