It's pretty much doom and gloom for the Cowboys right now, there are not a whole lot of positives to take out of a game like the one yesterday. But, in an effort to lighten things up just a bit, let's look at the "teammates of the week". I'd have to hand that award out to the special teams led by Dan Bailey and Dwayne Harris. This unit was the only one that seemed to be truly competing with its counterpart on the Lions.

Dan Bailey had a splendid game. He kicked a pair of 53-yard field goals, that's pretty special in itself. He also added a 44-yard effort and had six out of his seven kickoffs go for touchbacks. That's about a good an effort as you can have for a kicker.

Dwayne Harris had a good game on punt returns and a very good game returning kickoffs. Harris averaged 12.5 yards on two punt returns and returned three kickoffs for 113 yards, an average of 37.7 yards. That is solid work from a player who is getting more and more respect from opposing teams as the season moves along.

Chris Jones also turned in solid work at the punter position. On seven punts he averaged 44.7 yards with a net of 38.4 yards. He dropped three kicks inside the 20-yard line. Detroit only returned one punt for four yards. Detroit's average starting position on the day was the 23-yard line.

The only real blemish on the day was one kickoff return that went for 44 yards. Outside of that, the kicks, the coverage, and the returns earn the special teams the acknowledgement of being the best set of teammates out on the field yesterday.
