Here's your hypothetical of the week: Would you let Dez Bryant go in exchange for two first-round picks?
The Dallas Cowboys will do what everybody knew they would do since contract negotiations with Dez Bryant broke down last: they will apply the franchise tag to Dez Bryant sometime before Monday at 4:00 pm ET.
Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reports that the Cowboys will apply the non-exclusive franchise tag to Bryant. The non-exclusive tag, which is cheaper, allows other teams to offer Bryant a contract. The Cowboys have the right to match any any offer, but in case they don't, the other team has to send two first round picks to Dallas for Bryant's rights.
The Cowboys have always maintained that they want Dez Bryant to be a Cowboy for life, and Dez Bryant has made similar statements. And the likelihood of another team coughing up two first-round picks in addition to the monster contract it would require to land Bryant are probably not very high.
In fact, those chances are probably somewhere between pretty slim and non-existent. But if someone did offer something ... would you consider two first-round picks for Bryant?
Here's your hypothetical of the week:
The Cowboys make it official and tag Dez Bryant on Monday.
Another team (like the Commanders, who think first-round picks are waaay overrated anyway) offers him a contract.
Should the Cowboys match the offer or take two first-round picks?
