The latest mock draft from one of ESPN's big two in the NFL draft arena.
Todd McShay has come out with version five of his 2015 mock draft. My guess is there will be one more before the actual draft starts next week. This time around, McShay circles all the way back to where he started in version one of his mocks this year. He has the Cowboys addressing a shaky position on defense.
#27 Byron Jones Dallas Cowboys (12-4) COLLEGE: Connecticut Class: Sr HT: 6-0 WT: 199 POS: CB
Analysis: [Melvin] Gordon is an option for the Cowboys if he drops this far, but they can also look to add a running back later in the draft. Cornerback is their second-biggest need, and Marcus Peters is a possibility here, but I'll have them take Jones. His recognition skills in coverage can improve, but he's an exceptional athlete with good size and great intangibles who could really help upgrade the corner position for Dallas.
Jones has certainly picked up steam in the last few weeks as a possible Cowboys draft pick in mocks. In this scenario, Melvin Gordon goes one spot earlier to the Ravens. At corner, both Trae Waynes and Kevin Johnson were already off the board. Other players the Cowboys could have had include Marcus Peters who goes to the Pats at #32 and Eric Kendricks, chosen by Green Bay at #30.
For the record, McShay's draft picks for Dallas so far in 2015:
Version 1: Byron Jones
Version 2: Melvin Gordon
Version 3: Melvin Gordon
Version 4: Eddie Goldman
McShay, and Mel Kiper, Jr., would both have been pretty good first-round GM's for the Cowboys over the past five years. You can check out OCC's article on that, here.
From that article, McShay's final mock picks for the Cowboys since 2010:

2010 Dez Bryant Pro Pro

2013 Sheldon Richardson DT 0 1 2 31 15
2014 Johnny Manziel QB 0 0 0 2 1
Total 4 6 13 202 157
Of course, McShay must surely regret buying into the Manziel hype last year, but outside of that, not bad.
