Could Dallas be zeroing on Jalen Ramsey?
Earlier today, we learned the Tennessee Titans had traded the top pick in the draft to the Los Angeles Rams. Everybody believes the Rams are going to get a quarterback with that pick, and most observers believe Carson Wentz is the target. That trade could certainly affect what the Cowboys do at pick number four, and it's something we've discussed multiple times here at BTB. One thing it could certainly do is drive Jalen Ramsey down into the hands of the Dallas Cowboys.
It has been reported that Jalen Ramsey is the top player on the Cowboys radar/draft board. Thanks to Todd Archer, we hear that when Ramsey was asked which team has shown the most interest in him in the draft, the Dallas Cowboys was the the name that came up first.
The Cowboys were the first team he mentioned when asked which teams have shown the most interest. He also mentioned the San Diego Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens. He said the Cleveland Browns, who have the No. 2 overall pick, only recently had him on the phone.
Ramsey was among the visitors to Valley Ranch for a pre-draft visit. He had dinner with executive vice president Stephen Jones and others at AT&T Stadium and met the following day with owner and general manager Jerry Jones, coach Jason Garrett and secondary coaches Joe Baker and Greg Jackson.
There has been a lot of debate about whether Ramsey is a cornerback or a safety. Personally I believe he is a cornerback and that if you're going to draft him at number four, you're drafting him to play corner. Ramsey sees himself as a corner.
"I definitely see myself as a corner, but I can play safety or the nickel role," Ramsey said on a conference call with NFL Nation reporters Thursday.
While Ramsey is viewed as one of the best players in the draft, the lack of interceptions in his career has some troubled. He had only three at Florida State.
"Just the simple answer is I wasn't tried much, first of all," Ramsey said, "and second of all, I dropped a couple. That was it."
