The Cowboys made a couple of moves on Saturday.

The Dallas Cowboys made a procedural move on Saturday, adding rookie defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence to the 53-man roster. Lawrence is now eligible to make his debut with the Cowboys tomorrow against the Arizona Cardinals. Dallas is hoping that Lawrence can add some punch to its pass rush which has done a decent job getting pressure but not as good at getting sacks. Lawrence is the athletic defensive end the Cowboys have been lacking since DeMarcus Ware left in the offseason. To make room for Lawrence the Cowboys waived defensive end Lavar Edwards.

In another move made today, the Cowboys signed defensive tackle Josh Brent to a one-year extension, keeping him with the team through the 2015 season. The deal is for $745,000 with no guaranteed money (it also includes a split of his 2014 salary). That's a very cheap deal considering Brent's talent, but his troubles with the law resulting from the car crash that killed teammate Jerry Brown, Jr. made this a unique situation. Brent has been in meetings and practicing with the Cowboys, they are hoping he will be ready to play once he finishes his 10-game suspension. He would be eligible to play November 23rd against the Giants.
