The Cowboys don't have a lot of money to play with in free agency but they will be bargain hunting.
The Dallas Cowboys are close to the salary cap and have limited space to maneuver in free agency, unless they can rework DeMarcus Ware's contract or cut him. They could also still do some restructuring with Brandon Carr and Jason Witten, or they could cut some other players like Justin Durant. If Durant is cut, then this free agency rumor would make sense. Durant being released would save $1.25 million against the cap.
On the eve of the start of free agency, the Cowboys have expressed some interest in Denver weakside linebacker Wesley Woodyard. Woodyard Woodyard compiled 84 tackles, three forced fumbles and four pass breakups in 2013. In the past two seasons, Woodyard has 10 pass breakups and four interceptions.

For a little more perspective on Woodyard, I reached out to Kyle Montgomery at Mile High Report.
Wesley Woodyard is a versatile linebacker who thrived at the weakside in the 4-3 (should have been a Pro Bowler in 2012) but fell off a bit in 2013. He's been a team captain in every single one of his years in the league - even as an undrafted rookie on special teams. Woodyard is a leader with exceptional character and has been the Broncos' nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year in 2010, ‘11 and '13
In 2013, he switched to middle linebacker, and returns were mixed. He started out the season well enough, but he missed a few games with a neck stinger. When he returned, he wasn't the same, and he was ultimately benched for 36-year-old Paris Lenon. Woodyard doesn't have the size to be an every down run-stuffing middle linebacker, but he has the speed to be very decent in coverage. If the Broncos hadn't found Danny Trevathan as an exception fit at Will in '13, I would have expected them to bring Woodyard back to move outside again.
