The Dallas Cowboys let it be known that at some point they would like a veteran backup for Dak Prescott. Could that veteran backup be Mark Sanchez?
Now that Tony Romo is out for an extended period and Prescott is the starter, there isn't much in the backup department if something were to happen to Prescott. Jameil Showers is doing his best to make the roster and prove he can be the guy, but he hasn't convinced the Cowboys staff yet. So the search for someone new is beginning in earnest.
Mark Sanchez lost the quarterback battle in Denver to Trevor Siemian. He's likely also going to lose his spot on the roster. Denver is actively trying to trade him and has contacted Dallas.
Denver has contacted Dallas about a trade for Mark Sanchez. The Cowboys are not interested in a trade if it involves his current salary.

From the Cowboys side, a very tepid response.
#Cowboys source on any Mark Sanchez talks, at this minute: "No progress."

(Cont.) The source added, "Checking out all options, and (Mark Sanchez) is one potentially. Everything has to make sense." #Cowboys

The big problem, besides the fact that Sanchez is just not that good of a quarterback, is his $4.5 million salary. Dallas doesn't want anything to do with that. But if Sanchez is cut, the Cowboys may have interest.
What's your take, would Sanchez be a good idea to backup Dak Prescott until Romo returns? If not, who do you want them to pursue?
