Mr. Automatic will be out of the Cowboys lineup for a time.

The Cowboys game with the 49ers was full of good news, but there is one issue cropping up that is not so good. The Cowboys star kicker, Dan Bailey, injured himself in the game and will likely miss some time.

The Cowboys made do with safety Jeff Heath in the game, who did a surprisingly good job. But that’s not going to be enough going forward, the Cowboys need a legitimate kicker on the roster. They are in the process of finding one.

[Jason] Myers was recently cut by the Jaguars in favor of Josh Lambo, who lost the Chargers job to [Younghoe] Koo this summer. Koo was discarded in favor of Nick Novak while [Mike] Nugent came up short in a competition at Giants camp this summer. Irwin Hill spent the summer with Dallas as a camp leg alongside Bailey.

No matter who they go with, none of them will offer up the confidence the Cowboys and the fanbase have in Bailey, who is simply among the best kickers ever to play. He’s that good. Get well soon!
