Former players and cheerleaders will take part in the telethon with the money raised going to the Salvation Army's Disaster Relief efforts.

“We opened our doors for the Texans to come this way,” Anderson said, “and we’ll continue to have them open as long as they need them.”

The NFL has moved Thursday’s scheduled preseason game between the Houston Texans and the Dallas Cowboys to AT&T Stadium in Arlington from NRG Stadium because of the historic flooding in Houston associated with Hurricane Harvey.

The game was originally scheduled to be played in Houston at 7 p.m. Kickoff on Thursday will remain at 7 p.m. Details on tickets, parking and other game-day logistics will be announced later.

NFL Foundation Donates To United Way Relief Fund; Cowboys To Host Telethon - Rob Phillips, Dallas Cowboys

Charlotte Jones Anderson, Cowboys executive vice president/chief brand officer and chairperson of the NFL Foundation, announced Monday that the NFL Foundation is matching the Houston Texans’ $1 million donation to the United Way Relief Fund to assist those impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

“Those efforts will continue beyond the immediate disaster relief as we assess the needs in the area and hopefully come back in to support some of the programs that deal with youth football in the area, that we hopefully can rebuild them after the devastation that has hit,” Anderson said.

J.J. Watt of Houston Texans wants Thursday game against Dallas Cowboys used for relief help - Sarah Barshop, ESPN
The NFL is moving Thursday's preseason game between the Texans and Cowboys because of flooding in Houston. If it's played, J.J. Watt wants the NFL to use the game to raise funds for those affected by the flooding.

"... If there is something played this week, I think we should definitely involve some sort of fundraiser, some sort of way to benefit the people back home. Because like I said, this is a much bigger issue than just a football game."

Cowboys "Comfortable" Jaylon Smith & Justin Durant Can Handle MLB Job - David Helman, Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys are confident that they have guys on the roster that can get the job done while Anthony Hitchens is on the mend.

“Between Jaylon and Justin, we feel very comfortable that they can get that job done,” he said. “We don’t in any way want to get away from the game plan that has worked so well for Jaylon, in terms of his pitch counts and what he’s going to do and don’t want to jeopardize anything that we’ve done with him. But we do think he can certainly share those duties with Justin, and expect both of them to share that Mike position.”

Taco Charlton serving up surprise preseason excellence for Cowboys - Tom Ryle, Blogging The Boys
With injuries hobbling so many of his class, he has been the clear standout through four preseason games.

Admittedly, the multiple injuries to the other draftees has made it much easier for Charlton to stand out. But given the widespread skepticism about his ability to make his skill set work in the NFL, his showing so far is highly encouraging. Even if he is mostly going against second- and third-string players, he is still demonstrating that he belongs at this level.

How did the rookies do in their fourth preseason game?

In four outings, Taco has gone from a knee-jerk bust to sharing the team’s preseason sack title with Moore at two a piece. Those two guys count for half of the eight sacks Dallas has accrued. For what it’s worth, Taco is tied for eighth in sacks during this preseason.

Taco Charlton's ability to come up with a sack celebration might not be a bad thing for the Cowboys.

“I knew that was going to come,” Charlton said. “Everyone else was worried, but I knew what I could do. I believe in my ability. The more snaps I get, the more familiar I get with everything, the better I'll get.”

Jason Witten getting better with age - Drew Davison, Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Witten is among the all-time best tight ends in NFL history. He is on the verge of becoming the Dallas Cowboys’ all-time receiving leader.

“He’s the best pro football player I’ve been around when it comes to the whole package – player and professional and spokesman for the team and leader and all of that stuff,” offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said. “That’s who I would tell any one of my sons or anybody that’s around me – if you want to emulate somebody, emulate that guy.”

Cowboys stock report: Risers and fallers after the preseason game against the Raiders - DannyPhantom, Blogging The Boys
Is Dak Prescott ready for the season opener? Is the backup quarterback race over? Check out who shined and who struggled in the latest Cowboys stock report.

“If it hadn’t been for the injury to Anthony Hitchens, I’d be inclined to say that Mark “Aint Gotcha” Nzeocha wouldn’t be making the 53-man roster. It wasn’t all bad for him as he made a play in coverage and tipped a pass, but the real issue is all the whiffing he’s doing trying to tackle people. He’s so close on several plays so you just keep thinking he’ll get there, but he continues to miss tackles.”

Stephen Jones: Backup QB Is “A Healthy Competition,” Between Moore & Rush - David Helman, Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys aren’t ready to name a backup quarterback just yet – but that in itself serves as a new development this preseason.

“I thought one of the biggest takeaways from this game was, obviously he had a play where he had some serious adversity,” Jones said. “He had missed a check down and had a sack-fumble-touchdown against him, and then turned right back around and leads his team down to two touchdown drives. That’s a big deal.”

NFL denies Elliott's request for a new arbitrator - Clarence Hill, Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott will appeal his six-game suspension on Tuesday.

Elliott and his representatives asked for a “truly” independent arbitrator to hear the case, someone other than Harold Henderson, a former NFL management executive picked to oversee the appeal by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, according to a source.

That request was denied by Goodell, who under Article 46 of the league’s collective bargaining agreement, is given the authority to hear the case himself or appoint a designee.

Ezekiel Elliott appeal hearing: NFL Nemesis from Deflate-Gate will take aim at 6-game suspension - Charles Robinson, Yahoo Sports
The NFLPA and Elliott's defense team have been looking for a potential procedural violation. Sources have told Yahoo Sports that they believe they have it.

The NFLPA and Elliott’s defense team have been looking for a potential procedural violation to mount a challenge in federal court. Sources have told Yahoo Sports that they believe they have it, via some of the same procedural collective bargaining arguments that opened the door for the union and quarterback Tom Brady to sue the NFL in deflate-gate. The sources declined to make the exact violations clear, but told Yahoo Sports that it involves all three of the aforementioned developments: naming Henderson as a partial arbitrator; failing to require Thompson to appear for cross-examination; and refusing to produce investigative material gathered when the NFL interviewed Thompson on multiple occasions.

The sources also told Yahoo Sports another significant development for Elliott: The NFLPA has once again called upon its most powerful outside attack dog, attorney Jeffrey Kessler. The sources said Kessler will be a significant part of Elliott’s appeal and the likely federal case filing that will occur next. The same Kessler who has waged war with the NFL on multiple high-profile occasions, including representing Brady in deflate-gate and the last antitrust case filed against the league. His involvement is key, largely because he is one of the most versed attorneys in the United States when it comes to the NFL and attacking it on the collective bargaining front.
