Cowboys Camp Day 12: All your highlights from the twelfth practice of training camp - Michael Sisemore, Blogging The Boys
It was Dez Bryant day in Oxnard, California. Check out the "Play of the Day"!
Dez Bryant is what Ric Flair is talking about when he says "Dirtiest Player in the Game", that catch was filthy. Scandrick knows.

Thurs. Practice Recap: Dez’s Circus Catch Steals The Show; More Injury Updates | Dallas Cowboys
Bryant made the play of the day – and quite possibly the play of training camp – Thursday afternoon.
The Pro Bowl receiver outjumped Orlando Scandrick on a fade route in the corner of the end zone despite tight coverage by the veteran cornerback. Then he threw up the "X" with his offensive teammates amid a roar from the fans lining the fence at the River Ridge sports complex.
Sometimes with Dallas Cowboys' Dez Bryant, there's nothing you can do - Todd Archer, ESPN
Even with perfect positioning, Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick wasn't able to get the best of Dez Bryant in Thursday's session.
"We'll look at the tape and see the kind of position he had and the technique he used, but I get the essence of your question, he can be in great position and a guy like Dez Bryant can jump up and make an outlandish catch," coach Jason Garrett said. "It was certainly a great play by the offensive guy. That's the great thing about this league, the guys on the other side of the ball are awfully good. You have to be at your best each and every time. And sometimes even when you are, they still make a play. You got to strap it back up the next down and keep going."
Dez Bryant looks in mid-season form after one-handed grab - Drew Davison, Star-Telegram
Praise from Bryant after he beat Scandrick:
"Scandrick has been ballin’. He’s a true leader. He’s making me work hard. ... Scandrick is gonna have a big year this year."
Dez Bryant: Ryan Switzer will be a Pro Bowl returner this season - Jon Machota, SportsDay
It's clear to see that Dez Bryant and rookie wide receiver Ryan Switzer have built a close bond in a short period of time.
"We buddies," Bryant said. "From the time me and Switzer met, we clicked. We're brothers for life. "He will be a Pro Bowl returner in his rookie year. Switzer thinks Justin Bieber is better than Michael Jackson. He's very serious about this," Bryant said. "Hey, I like you, Bieber. I think you fly. But MJ? Come on. They need to drug test him for saying that. I don't know what's wrong with Switz."
Scout’s Notebook: Pass Rush Progress, Jaylon With The Starters & More - Bryan Broaddus, Dallas Cowboys
Broaddus with his main notes from Wednesday evening’s practice session, which saw some solid work from the depleted defensive line group.
Some quality work by DeMarcus Lawrence and Maliek Collins on the twist stunt against La’el Collins and Zack Martin to generate some pressure on Dak Prescott. Lawrence was able to get such a push, it forced Collins and Martin to devote their full attention to stopping him. Once Maliek Collins saw Lawrence had occupied both blockers, he quickly took a tight path around the corner right into Prescott’s face. The quarterback quickly unloaded the ball to the outside, where it was intercepted by Byron Jones.
No need to panic, the Cowboys don’t need to make a move to get a pass rusher - Danny Phantom, Blogging The Boys
David Irving - suspended. Damontre Moore - suspended. And now, Tyrone Crawford is injured. Should the Cowboys make a move to bring in a pass rusher?
The Cowboys don’t need to panic. They continue to show small improvement in getting to the quarterback and the team has confidence that will continue. They had 28 sacks in 2014, 31 sacks in 2015, and 36 sacks last season. While it’s unclear who will be doing all the sacking, the team still has troops on the battle field to get to the quarterback. It won’t be a dominant pass rush, but nobody should expect it to be.
Dallas Cowboys not sweating potential Ezekiel Elliott suspension - Todd Archer, ESPN
As the Cowboys await word on potential discipline for Ezekiel Elliott, the team is not even mulling life without its star running back.
"I think we're confident it's going to work out, and he's said it all along to us as teammates," tight end Jason Witten said. "You know the guy's a remarkable player. Big, strong, athletic; he's smart, he's tough. He's good out of the backfield. That's an area of strength of our team with those running backs, but certainly he's one of the best in the league. You'd miss somebody like that if he is out, but we fully anticipate he'll be out there and playing and continue to grow as a player on and off the field."
Sean Lee dealing with hamstring - Drew Davison, Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Lee is the latest Cowboys player dealing with a hamstring injury. The All-Pro is coming off a season in which he led the team with 174 tackles.
With Lee out, linebacker Jaylon Smith worked with the first team. Garrett said Lee’s injury would not affect whether the team plays Smith in Saturday’s preseason game against the Rams.
NFL's ruling on Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott expected soon - NFL.com
A ruling on the NFL's investigation of Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott could come as early as Friday, a source informed of the situation told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
For more than a year the league has been probing into multiple incidents involving Elliott, including a domestic violence accusation made against him by a woman identifying herself as his former girlfriend to authorities.
Taco Charlton's lack of impact in first preseason game has Cowboys DC Rod Marinelli looking for more - Kate Hairopoulos, SportsDay
Cowboys' defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli expects more from Taco Charlton after a lackluster first preseason game.
"Work on your skill, let it go, get down and you do it again," Marinelli said. "Cause that's the way the league is, down in and down out. And it's good for him to do that. Some things just don't work yet, go back to some basic things and make that work. He's got really good length, he's long, he's very athletic. And now, it's just putting it all together each and every down."
Byron Bell Getting His Turn As Cowboys’ Latest Guard of the Week - Brad Sham, Dallas Cowboys
Sometimes, the best choice is not the first choice, the Cowboys are experiencing that with finding their left guard for the season.
And since Cooper has not locked down the left guard job AND is at least for now the backup center, the Bear takes center stage. "Bear" is the nickname seven-year veteran Byron Bell was given by his Tennessee Titan teammates the last two years. He’s a big man, although, as colleague, David Helman points out in his profile of Bell on DallasCowboys.com this week, not as big as he used to be. And that’s part of his successful camp so far. In four years in Carolina and two in Tennessee, Bell has started 72 games, including three in the playoffs. He knows the ropes.
Dallas Cowboys see their specialists as 'football players' - Todd Archer, ESPN
Just because punter Chris Jones and kicker Dan Bailey are considered "specialists" doesn't mean they can't compete with position players athletically.
"Well, we just want to keep good players on our team. Each of those guys -- you can put L.P. in that category -- they are excellent," Garrett said. "They are as good as anybody in the National Football League and they take great pride in doing what they do at a high level."
NFL still investigating Ezekiel Elliott - Drew Davison, Fort Worth Star-Telegram
The NFL has been investigating Dallas Cowboys star running back Ezekiel Elliott for more than a year. The case continues to go on.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in an email to the Star-Telegram on Thursday morning that the league had "no update" on the status of Elliott’s investigation.
