Miss practice? We have you covered.

Yesterday at practice, the Cowboys offense had an impressive day against a defense that it has struggled with at times throughout training camp. Tuesday saw some of Prescott’s targets have themselves an impressive day. Amari Cooper is currently sidelined with a foot injury, but that has only given more opportunities for others on the roster to step up. Second-year wideout Michael Gallup and free agent acquisition Randall Cobb have done just that. In fact, Gallup had one of the more impressive plays of training camp on Tuesday evening:

Unbelievable to tap by Gallup. WOW

Here is a look at the crazy toe-tapping grab in slow motion:

Gallup looks primed to breakout on the big stage in 2019. The Prescott-to-Gallup connection seemed to struggle to get on the same page on deep balls last season, but it is evident that the two have really worked on that in Oxnard. The third-round pick has a chance to take this offense to the next level while playing opposite of Cooper. Prescott (and Kellen Moore) have to be salivating at the thought of Gallup taking the jump in his development.

As mentioned above, Gallup was not the only receiver to make plays in the California heat on Tuesday evening. Randall Cobb has had some ups and downs throughout training camp, but he had himself a solid day today. Here, Dak throws from a different arm angle to hit the former Green Bay Packers receiver.

Cobb then puts a move on Anthony Brown to create enough separation before reeling in this grab:

Dak found Cobb over the middle for six during team drills. We hope to see a lot of that during the regular season.

Much like with Gallup, the Cowboys are hoping that Cobb helps this offense reach the next level. The veteran receiver has struggled with injuries, but he has the talent and the ability to make game-changing plays in the slot.

Former undrafted wideout Reggie Davis also got in on the fun. As we have noted on BTB before, there is definitely a battle for that sixth receiver spot on the roster, and Davis has used an impressive training camp to put his name solidly in the mix. First, this catch from Dak:

Then, he hauled in a throw from Cooper Rush:

Davis actually received first-team snaps on Tuesday. It is clear that Davis is catching the eyes of many.

With Amari Cooper, Tavon Austin, Jon'Vea Johnson and Cedrick Wilson out of the padded practice, Reggie Davis is the 1st WR to get a crack with the 1st team in 11 personnel with Gallup and Cobb. #Cowboys

And, of course, Gold Jacket Witt had to make sure to remind us who he is:

    Wit with a one-handed catch.

While it was overall a nice day from the receivers on the Cowboys roster, the defense was able to make some plays, too. Chidobe Awuzie and company were not going to let the opposition make too many plays without making plays themselves.

Jourdan Lewis showed off his ball skills on Tuesday, diving for a highlight-worthy interception during the practice. The Athletic’s Jon Machota got the pick on video:

The Mothership’s Rob Phillips nominated Lewis’ grab for ‘the play of camp’. On another note, the struggles for Mike White have continued. (That, and it was an awesome play from Lewis himself.)

I nominate Jourdan Lewis for the play of camp: a diving interception near the goal line of a Mike White pass

We have seen how good this defense can be when it is clicking. They showed the ability to make life hard for the offense at times on Tuesday. Prescott had nowhere to go with the ball on this play, thanks to some impressive coverage from the secondary.

    Nowhere for Dak to go

Anthony Brown had a really nice season in 2018, and he looks to be continuing that trend. Here, he doesn’t allow for Gallup to make the grab in-bounds.

Donovan Olumba also made a nice play during today’s practice. The undrafted defensive back out of Portland State is making a real push to make the 53-man squad. If he continues to make plays like this, the coaching staff won’t be able to ignore him.

Great job of playing through the catch point by Olumba with his back turned to the QB. Beautiful coverage

There is only one more padded practice remaining in Cowboys training camp. Dallas will take on the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday night in preseason week two. The regular season is just around the corner!
