The Dallas Cowboys currently have a total salary number of $113.4 million, and with about $2.3 million in carry-over money from 2012, that leaves them with exactly $6,635,376 in cap space for 2013. Included in those numbers is Sean Lee's recent six-year contract extension worth between $42 and $51 million as well as yesterday's roster cuts, but Ryan Cook's likely release (after he was placed on IR yesterday) is not factored in yet.
The $6.6 million in remaining cap space ranks the Cowboys 17th in the league, and while it's a far cry off the $27 million the league-leading Browns have at their disposal, it's still enough to wonder what the Cowboys should do with their remaining cap space.
The Cowboys currently have 19 players on the roster whose contracts expire after the end of the 2013 season. Should the Cowboys extend some of those players now and hope to get a great performance on the cheap, or wait until those players break out before re-signing them and risk overpaying in the process?
Below is the list of Cowboys players who'll hit some type of free agency next year either as unrestricted, restricted or exclusive rights free agents.

Alex Tanney is of no concern to the Cowboys right now, because unless the Cowboys release him, as an exclusive rights free agent he may only sign with the Cowboys in 2014, provided of course that the Cowboys extend a minimum qualifying offer.
Looking over this list, are there players you would like to see the Cowboys extend early, or would you adopt a wait-and-see approach, even it could mean shelling out big bucks next year?
Perhaps you would like to see the Cowboys invest their $6.6 million to extend other players on the roster? Dez Bryant, Bruce Carter, Dwayne Harris, Ronald Leary, DeMarco Murray and Tyron Smith will all be free agents after the 2014 season. Perhaps the Cowboys could be looking to tie up one of these players early.
Or should the Cowboys invest that money somewhere else entirely, like perhaps a new guard or defensive end?
