How did the rookies perform in the Cowboys’ big win over the Chiefs?
The Dallas Cowboys came out on top for the third consecutive game on Sunday, as the Cowboys added a big win to their resume. Dallas looked like the better team for really all but one play that we shall not mention here en route to defeating the then 6-2 Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 28-17.
Dak Prescott played as well as ever by accounting for three touchdowns on the day, Ezekiel Elliott added a score of his own, and Terrance Williams had by far his best game of the season as #83 recorded over 140 yards on nine catches. The defense played outstanding, too. Demarcus Lawrence did not continue his impressive sack streak, but he was in on a lot of plays throughout the afternoon. David Irving continues to create havoc for opposing offenses, and Sean Lee is one of the better defensive players in all football. It was a nice win for a team wanting to make a big push for the playoffs.
How did the rookies perform in yet another nationally televised game? Cooper Rush, the only quarterback on the roster behind Dak, was active again but didn’t see any action. Noah Brown, dealing with injuries, was inactive. Chidobe Awuzie was held out for the third consecutive game and the sixth game overall this season.
Taco Charlton
A Taco Charlton sighting!
Taco has received lots and lots of critcism all season long (and for the most part, rightfully so), but he has nearly came up with two big time plays in the last two games. Charlton dove for a potentially game-ending interception against the Commanders, but he just missed it. This week, though, he finally made a big time play in a big time moment.
Dak had just drove the offense down the field and hit Cole Beasley for six, practically putting the game out of reach for the Chiefs, but Alex Smith and KC still had some time left for a late comeback. The Chiefs made it to midfield, but they did not get much further than that. Smith dropped back to pass on third down, but the Cowboys’ defensive line got into the backfield and put pressure on the quarterback.
As Smith stepped up into the pocket, Taco got by one of the elite right tackles in the game, Mitchell Schwartz, and brought Smith down. The next play, Jeff Heath jumped in front of tight end Travis Kelce and picked off the ball — Smith’s first turnover of the season — and the game was all but over.

It was a big time play by a rookie looking to make a jump in his debut season. Here’s hoping Taco only improves from here.
Jourdan Lewis
Since making his debut back in week two, Jourdan Lewis has played like the best corner for the Cowboys in nearly every game. He made his first career interception back in week two against the Broncos, showed his ability to tackle in space versus Todd Gurley, and really held his own against the Packers’ talented wide receivers corps.
Lewis’ play has been so impressive that teams are beginning to avoid him. Yes, Alex Smith — the quarterback who is having an MVP-caliber season — and the Kansas City Chiefs — one of the most explosive offenses in football — refused to target the man that J-Lew was covering on Sunday.

Sure, Travis Kelce is a huge target for that offense, but the fact that the Chiefs didn’t look Lewis’ way once all game long shows the kind of respect that the rookie is already earning so far this season.
The Dallas Cowboys have a CB1, and his name is Jourdan Lewis.
Ryan Switzer
Ryan Switzer began the game at punt returner, but Cole Beasley actually got some snaps back there as well. Switz did not have his best outing last week against the Commanders, and he did not really do anything at all against KC, either.
In addition to Bease taking over punt return responsibilities at one point in the game, Switz did not get a single snap on the offensive side of the ball. He caught one pass for a first down last week, but wasn’t apart of the offensive game plan against the Chiefs. We’ll see how Switz performs from here on out.
Xavier Woods
Xavier Woods has been a player that much of the Cowboys fan base has been eagerly waiting to see play more and more snaps. Because of a dinger that Jeff Heath suffered on the opening kickoff, Woods quickly got snaps on the first defensive series of the game. He made them count, too.

Woods played very well against one of the league’s top offenses on Sunday. He was flying all around the field, laid some big hits, and even knocked a ball away from Kelce.
