Dallas @ Washington: How Washington will try to slow down the smoking-hot Cowboys offense

Can the Washington defense slow down the juggernaut Cowboys offense?

No offense in the NFL is hotter than the Dallas Cowboys at the moment. For three straight games they’ve put up over 30 points. How will the Washington defense try to cope with that machine?

First thing they need to do is get healthy. Much like Washington’s offense, their defense is also dealing with injuries. The good news for Washington is that they might get one big component of their defense back. After two weeks on the sidelines, corner Josh Norman looks to be on track to play on Sunday. Along with Bashaud Breeland, who is also not 100% healthy, they will hope to contain Dez Bryant and company on the outside. Still, their entire secondary is dealing with nagging issues.

On the defensive side, the secondary is getting close to relying on free agents off the street. Cornerbacks Josh Norman (rib) and Fabian Moreau (hamstring) and safeties Deshazor Everett (hamstring) and Stefan McClure (hamstring) hope to play this week. Corner Bashaud Breeland has competed well despite a sprained knee.

Washington has a pretty good set of pass rushers, but they may be without their current sack leader on Sunday.

Commanders outside linebacker Preston Smith is dealing with a groin injury that is severe enough to keep him out of Sunday’s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Smith did not participate in Wednesday’s closed walk-through.

Smith, who turns 25 in November, will continue to receive treatment with the hope that the ailment will be better by the end of the week, but the Commanders have the luxury to sideline Smith with three healthy pass rushers — Ryan Kerrigan, Junior Galette and rookie Ryan Anderson — all available.

One thing Washington has had trouble dealing with is mobile quarterbacks. They get another one this week, and it’s been an issue for them.

[sarcasm]Yeah, Wentz did such a good job passing with the entire Commanders secondary injured. What an amazing feat by this superstar of a QB[/sarcasm]

Copy!:lmao:
And the sports boys on sports radio following that game were slobbering all over Wentz the next couple of days going on about how he's leading the league with TD passes with 17,yet don't mention Prescott having played 1 game less with 14,,,, we'll see who's who week 17o_O

I'm not about to take the Skins for granted -- best to take their hurts with a grain of salt.

They'll always show up ready to give it their all for their hated rival Cowboys.

Of course, it likely won't do 'em any good but they do anyway. ;)

If the Eagles lose to the 49ers next week I will laugh so very hard ...

And if we beat the Commanders, I don't want to see you bringing up the stats we put up. Since, you know, they are even more depleted now and you are knocking the Eagles for beating them and Wentz having a good performance.

Remember this. Beating the Commanders isn't worthy of any kind of praise, because as you said, they are depleted.

My guess is, beating the Commanders will suddenly be like we ripped apart the 85 Bears.

They were more depleted in the game against the Eagles. You, once again, are putting out dodgy "facts"

Also remember, I don't want to hear a peep out of you regarding Wentz' upcoming performance against the winless 49ers. If he puts up 100 points it will still be an unremarkable performance.

Commanders went into the Eagles game with most of their starters and left without most of them. The ones who went out, most likely won't be playing. They get a hobbled Norman back and Breeland

Williams - hasn't participated, looks to be out
Smith - Hasn't participated, looks to be out
Long - Out
Scheriff - out

But is this the excuse you're going to be running with? If we beat up an already beat up Commanders team, it's a quality win because they got a hobbled Norman back while losing their entire offensive line?

While it is true the Commanders suffered injuries during the match against the Eagles, that in no way negates the point that those injuries impacted the result. Whether they played the full game or part of the game they were not able to take the field during the Eagles match.

And 4 of those players are in line to return against the Cowboys including Norman. I find your argument quite unimpressive ... as usual. You should try running off logic instead of emotion.

And once more you attribute an argument to me that I never said. Which is typical for you, considering you struggle to argue against only what is there. Feel free to point out where I said defeating the Commanders would be a quality win.

First off, I rarely if ever talk about Wentz outside threads he's relevant in. I'm not Risen. If I was to talk, it would be about the Eagles team as a whole. But no, I don't care about the 49ers game. I'd be happy if they lose somehow though, but if they beat the 49ers, who cares outside of the W/L record and it not helping us with the divisional standings? They'd just be another team smacking around one of the worst teams in the league.

And I very rarely quote stats about Dak or the team. I didn't celebrate this win against the 49ers much at all, and yet that didn't stop you making some quite bold assumptions about my posting habits.

Who said the injuries didn't impact the result? I'm telling you to acknowledge this if we beat them Sunday. Don't use the excuse that a hobbled Norman, who can't even take a deep breath without pain, is suddenly going to make this a quality win.

That wasn't an argument. It was a question. Answer it.

If they impacted the result then it didn't matter whether they got injured before or during the Eagles game, did it? So why bring it up?

You were the one who brought up the idea that the Commanders will be a more complete side against the Cowboys, a fact that is 100% false.
