Monte Kiffin: You put that one on me, but don't put that one on Tony Romo - Charean Williams, Star-Telegram
Monte Kiffin addressed the press yesterday and shouldered the blame for the loss against the Broncos in which his defense gave up 51 points.

"You put that one on me, but don’t put that one on Tony Romo. We've got to play better. We do."

Staubach: Blaming Romo for Cowboys' loss 'makes no sense' - Louis Ojeda, FSSouthwest
Hall of Famer Roger Staubach isn't pointing the finger at Tony Romo for the Cowboys' loss to the Broncos.

"He played one of the most sensational games I've ever seen," Staubach said, according to the Dallas Morning News. "It makes no sense. Those people who blame him, I don't know, they ought to take a look at their lives."

"I've been a quarterback and I know this guy is playing great football," he said. "Seeing critics blame these tough losses, especially this game, on him sends a message to me that some people will never cut him a break. I can't believe it."

Shanahan Agrees On Jones’ Comparison Of Romo To Elway - David Helman, DallasCowboys.com
Jerry Jones compared Tony Romo to John Elway after the Broncos game. Commanders coach Mike Shanahan, who was Elway's offensive coordinator and later Elway's head coach, agrees with the assessment.

"I think the people that see Tony practice every day and the teammates know what he can do. But you do it as a team. Everybody’s got to do it together," Shanahan said. "When I was with John, going into the 15th, 16th year, you had the same people saying that he couldn’t do it throughout his whole career. Then when he does do it, everybody says ‘Ah, yeah. We knew he could do it.’ I mean, it’s the same old thing."

Heath To See More Snaps; Hamilton Hopes To Be Next - David Helman, DallasCowboys.com
Helman writes that after releasing Will Allen, the Cowboys could fill their empty roster spot with rookie UDFA sfatey Jakar Hamilton (raise your hand if he is your pet cat too).

"On the roster this morning, they took me off the scout team and had me working on special teams with the ones – stuff like that. I just see it as a good sign of moving up," Hamilton said. "Everyone else is talking about it," he said.

"If it is, it’s a great opportunity for me. It just makes me want to work even harder to get out and eventually show my skills, on the actual field in an actual game."

Surprising Where RGIII, Commanders Are Struggling Most - Bryan Broaddus, DallasCowboys.com
Broaddus sees a propensity for turnovers on offense and a shaky right side of the offensive line.

Cowboys Injury Report: Miles Austin Is Back, But Jason Hatcher Sits - Blogging The Boys
Miles Austin practiced with the team again on Wednesday, while Hatcher sat out for what hopefully is just a precautionary measure. Linebacker Justin Durant and defensive lineman Edgar Jones are both still out with groin injuries. Also missing was backup running back Lance Dunbar who is dealing with a hamstring issue.

Pro Pokes: Blackmon and Bryant Dominate - Cowboys Ride For Free
This post from the Oklahoma State Cowboys SB Nation site takes an in-depth look at Bryant's performance against the Broncos, and highlights how Dez Bryant enables other wide receivers to shine, something we don't talk about very often. In this example, they break down Terrance Williams' 82-yard touchdown pass and show the impact Bryant had on making that a successful play. And there's lots more, including both of Bryant's TDs, because

"[...] Even though we know he's incredible, it's always fun to text your friends that THAT guy went to your university every time he makes a sick play."

Cowboys CB Scandrick surprised, disappointed at defense's struggles - Keith Whitmire, FSSouthwest.com
The disappointing results of the Cowboys defense so far have left Orlando Scandrick shaking his head.

"I'm surprised," Scandrick said Wednesday at the team's practice facility. "I didn't see this coming at all. I felt like we had a great group of players, we had a great scheme. We do have a great scheme, I feel like we just need to adjust to it. Sometimes we maybe try to do too much and, you know, everybody just needs to do their job and we'll be better off."

Scandrick, now that he's the veteran of the Cowboys' secondary, promises to lead his group - Carlos Mendez, Star-Telegram
Orlando Scandrick believes that by virtue of his seniority with the Cowboys, it's his job now to lead the secondary.

"I think it’s my job to help those guys and bring them along and continue to help them believe, and we’ve just got to continue to have faith," Scandrick said. "We’ve come too far to turn our backs on our coaches now. I just don’t think that’s the right thing to do. I don’t see that happening with the group of guys we have."

Jerry Won't Dismiss Idea of Playing in UK - Scott Crisp, NBC DFW
Jones told 105.3-FM The Fan on Wednesday that there's a chance Dallas could play a game in Londong - but only if it's not a home game that gets moved to London.

"We would never play a home game in London, at all," Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. "All of our home games are too important to us. You have to have a situation where somebody’s willing to be the home team, which gives up a game at their home. ... That’s possible."
