Corner or Defensive End in the first? - Todd Archer, ESPN
In his Twitter mailbag, Archer answers a question about whether the Cowboys should go DB or DL in the first round.
I think the preference would be to go with a cornerback at No. 27 because I don't think there will be a pass-rusher worth the pick at that spot. One interesting name to watch will be Randy Gregory. You are hearing people saying he will fall. If he gets down to No. 27, I think the Cowboys would gladly scoop him up, issues and all. They could then go for a cornerback in Round 2. You said defensive back and defensive line. I went a little more specific because I don't think you will see the Cowboys go with a safety or defensive tackle in the first round.
Re-Grading the Dallas Cowboys' Past 5 Drafts | Bleacher Report
John Owning takes a look at the Cowboys past five drafts because such an exercise "allows teams to learn and grow from past successes and failures." If that's the case, then good things are in store for the Cowboys. After three "Bs" for 2010-12, Owning gives the Cowboys an "A" for the last two drafts.
DeMarco Murray: 'I'm not worried about the Cowboys" | FOX Sports
The headline, as is often the case, sounds much more dramatic than what was actually said. But who'd interested in a headline that say "I wish those guys the best"?
"I’m not worried about the Cowboys. I think I’ve moved on and I wish those guys the best, and once that game comes ahead we’ll focus on that," Murray said, via CBS Philly. "But right now, we’re just focused on today and that’s trying to get stronger in this weight room. We got a lower body lift today, so we’re gonna get after it a little bit."
Gordon returned to Wisconsin to become a first-round pick | Charean Williams, Star Telegram
Interesting bit of background on the possible Cowboys target from Williams:
Melvin Gordon rushed for 1,609 yards and led the nation with 7.8 yards per carry as a redshirt sophomore. The NFL Draft Advisory Board gave him a second-round grade.
So he returned to Wisconsin for a chance to go in the first round in 2015.
Kevin Johnson could be the first cornerback taken | ProFootballTalk
Trae Waynes has long been viewed as the No. 1 corner in the draft. Is that about to change?
With the draft four days away, we’re told that multiple teams have Johnson ahead of Waynes. If one of those teams ends up on the clock and decides to take a corner, Johnson will go before Waynes.
Who is really in play for potential Adrian Peterson trade? - Yahoo Sports
Whoever it is, it's not the Cowboys. Citing six "high-level NFL sources," Yahoo’s Charles Robinson reports the Cowboys and Cardinals are not willing to pay the price the Vikings have demanded to trade Adrian Peterson.
Dallas is NOT [willing to pay the price to acquire Adrian Peterson], a Cowboys source told Yahoo Sports. And it goes further. As it stands, Dallas has not even spoken with Minnesota regarding Peterson. Let that sink in: As of the start of draft week, the Cowboys have not spoken to Minnesota about Adrian Peterson, let alone made any trade offers. Anything stating the contrary is mythology.
Would Peterson love to play in Dallas? Yes. Is the Cowboys' brain trust (or even team owner Jerry Jones) willing to part with the draft compensation and money it would take to land Peterson? As of the beginning of draft week, the answer is an absolute no.
Discussed potential Adrian Peterson trade on @NFLTotalAccess: Cowboys not in it. Makes #AZCardinals most likely if they miss on RBs in draft
