The Dallas Cowboys held their second OTA of the week on Wednesday, and it was the first one where the media could attend. Below is a quick recap of what they saw.

Roll call:

No Jack Crawford, Leary, Rico Gathers or Rolando

Sean Lee, DeMarcus Lawrence, Lance Dunbar, Gavin Escobar in attendance but not working out

So why were those three missing (besides Leary, who we covered yesterday)?

Garrett says Rolando is tending to a family situation. Gathers is finishing up academics at Baylor. Jack Crawford is dealing with his visa.

With DeMarcus Lawrence not participating, the first-team defensive line was:

First-team defensive line: Ryan Russell at left end, Tyrone Crawford and Cedric Thornton at tackle, Randy Gregory at right end

All parties agree, Tony Romo is doing just fine.

Sky-high optimism for Tony Romo is the dominant storyline today. Garrett and Romo himself saying he's healthier than he's been in a while.

QBs coach Wade Wilson said Tony Romo has looked "phenomenal" this offseason. "Throwing with a lot of velocity, a lot of accuracy."

This hasn't been discussed much this offseason.

Cowboys are holding Barry Church out of contact drills as a precaution for his broken arm. They expect Rolando McClain back next week.

I should clarify, I guess. Barry Church broke his arm in Week 16 against Buffalo. He's fine, but they're being cautious with him.

Dez Bryant is feeling good, but they are still going to be cautious with him, more x-rays of his foot in the future just to be sure everything is healed up correctly.

Dez Bryant: "I'm actually a little ahead of the game, but I'm going to stay patient. We got a long way to go. Ready to play some football."

And finally, love to hear things like this about Byron Jones.

My lasting impression from the OTA, other than Rolando's absence, was Byron staying 20 minutes late to work on safety stuff w/ the JUGS.
