It is back to football, at least in the form of practice, and here is a look at some of the sights from the first day of practice, courtesy of Twitter.

It has been a long time since fans have been able to get a glimpse of the Dallas Cowboys in action. I don't know about anyone else, but I have been experiencing some pretty severe withdrawal symptoms, but now there are at least some still shots that will hold me over until the first competitive snaps of the preseason.

Things did not get off to the best of starts in this year's camp. Someone out there took it on themselves to dis one of our front-page writers.

What an outrage! I need to talk to Jerry about this. pic.twitter.com/BaDWXJMQxs

I don't know about you, but I would think twice before crossing the Goog. Some folks just like to live dangerously, I reckon. No doubt this issue will be resolved immediately so that full attention can be returned to the field where it belongs.

Other than one minor faux pas, it looks like everything is perfect along the California coast.

Speaking of the field, a lot of focus during training camp is going to be on the running game, and that has gotten started already. It seems that everyone was paying close attention to the RBs during the first day. First up is Joseph Randle showing us a move.

Here we have Lance Dunbar making a cut after taking the handoff from Dustin Vaughan.

Blocking is just as important to the coaches as what a back can do with the rock in his hand. Gary Brown is coaching 'em up on the finer points of playing without the ball.

It is not just the running backs that fans turned out to see. This guy is always a highlight for fans.

Number 88 loves the fans as much as they love him.

I'm glad to have that messy contract business settled and Dez back on the gridiron where he belongs. Someone else feels the same way.

One piece missing from last season was the presence of linebacker Sean Lee. For the first time in over a year, the Cowboys defensive leader is back on the gridiron.

In case that isn't enough for you here is what the entire sequence looked like.

How would you like to see that freight train headed straight towards you?

New Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy may start the regular season in the NFL's doghouse, but here is a quick look at what Dallas fans are going to love about having him join Rod Marinelli's Merry Band of Rushmen.

With all due respect to Chris Kyle, this is the Cowboys version of a sniper. Dan Bailey takes out the camera guy filming practice from the scissor lift.

BULLS-EYE!!!

Training camp is serious business and there is an ongoing focus on the long term impact that the game has on player safety. Our colleague from another site, Steven Van Over took this interesting shot of a piece of revolutionary gear to prevent head injuries.

As much as I have missed football, this tweet was my favorite to come out of the opening day of practice,
