Tired of the useless trend of Internet skybox hindsight complete with .gifs. We have no idea what each play is trying to accomplish, no idea what the quarterback is being told to do, wind conditions on the particular play. It just ends up being a bunch of second-guessing by a beer gut Madden reject.

Equally tired of the idea that Dez is a football god running open every play, if only we would just throw it to him... making the (flimsy) assumption that he runs his routes correctly every play, catches everything his way, never fumbles or causes interceptions and is never on the sidelines acting stupid. I sure hope Dez is owning his poor performances better than all of the excuse makers. On a positive note, from what I can tell, he is.

Yea Dez cant catch a ball not thrown to him. romo needs to take ownership of this issues as well....

Why are people saying its the scheme and play calling when the plays shown here worked, Romo just was reluctant to throw the ball down field... ?

Problem is, this offense needs a performance like Miles Austin breaking tackles gaining 200 plus yards to move the ball and when it happens people confuse that with the genius play-calling. Thn when Miles Austin doesn't breakver a hundred yards, they think the guy has lost a step.

Dez needs to learn how to catch 20 foot passes. Until he does, Romo rightfully should look Witten/T-Will/Beasley's way.

I was wondering this too...

On one hand I hear the problem is scheme....

On the other hand I hear people who watch the All-22 film/etc say Dez is constantly open -- it's just that Romo isn't looking his direction.

Which is it?

Kitna found Dez when he was a rookie, Romo couldn't. Kitna comes in puts up over 2000 yards and 16 touchdowns in the 9 games he started. If we get down by 21 points or more, Romo should be benched, Orton comes in, and we'll see if he can find Dez or not.

Because you can never blame Romo for anything. For every complaint that Dez is allegedly 'a god that gets open', there are 10 apologies and excuses for Romo...anything to make it look like he's not to blame. When that doesn't work, they go to the 'well, we scored 28 points so the offense wasn't at fault.' You can set your watch to it.

The real answer? Romo refuses to throw the ball down the field if there's not at least 3yds of separation. When are you people going to get the idea that Romo has no confidence in his arm or his receivers.

I have been saying this about Romo for 4 years. I am not pro Romo or against him per se, but your post is something I agree with.

Its obvious. The fantasy football stat boys will clearly tell you other wise. The eye test tells you that the explosive plays are gone, the creativity is gone, the excitement is gone from Romo's game. We have some sort of Jeff Garcia imposter out there now.

With our horrendously awful defense you'd think that Romo and the boys upstairs would actually WANT to get the ball down the field more because 3 and outs are killing us when the opposition goes right down the field. At least you have a chance throwing it up, especially with a guy like Dez. Would Romo have attempted that throw to Alshon in the corner of the EZ? I highly doubt it. Dez can make that type of catch and has shown it many times. We just flat out don't even give the guy a chance.

maybe because romo never really had the opportunity to go to dez that often? running game was going early. chicago never punted... i still get how people blamming romo or the offense dont get that chicago NEVER FREAKIN PUNTED!! they just werent give that many offensive possessions.

Romo doesn't trust himself. Too scared to throw a pick. He's a gunslinger. Need to get back to that. No reason toget dez 8 catches a game

They had the ball for 37 minutes. They never punted.

We ran it for 7.1 yards a pop. I don't know what is so hard to figure out.

The other thing I will say is this, Romo does appear to have gotten a little gun shy, but I think a big part of that is we have very little chance of winning if we turn the ball over. Extra possessions against one of the worst defenses in the league are a death knell. The offense wasn't explosive on Monday, but if was efficient with the possessions afforded to it. And if we could have made them punt even a couple times that game comes down to the last few minutes.

3 times this season, an NFL team wasn't forced to punt for an entire game. 2 of those were against Dallas. And in another game we gave up 40 freakin' first downs. Its silly to wring your hands over the offense, when only a perfect game from them can beat a good team. The entire team plays with one hand tied behind it's back because of the atrocious D. And it doesn't matter what else happens this year, because you can't win with a defense THIS bad. You just can't.

Garrett's offense and his coaching has destroyed Romo. Each year, slowly but surely, everything that made Romo great has been quietly stripped away. He looks like a shell of himself now. The numbers look fine on paper, but you watch him play and he's not the same guy. That gunslinger mentality and the confidence that comes with it is not there anymore. It comes out in spurts, usually when we're behind and we go into hurry-up, streetball mode. Coincidentally, those are always when Dez Bryant has his most productive games as well.

There's no doubt in my mind that Romo is receiving some of the worst QB coaching in the league. Jason Garrett and Wade Wilson? What a cruel joke. These two buffoons have taken away everything from Romo that made him great. He's only 33 -- far too young to be washed up. But sometimes in this system he looks like he is.

I don't think there is any questioning that Romo isn't looking Dez's way nearly as much as you'd expect.

The question is WHY?

Romo has guaranteed money. He don't need to answer these types of inquiries.

BINGO

He is not the same player.

Dez is extremely overrated at this point and is not living up to his potential. He was clearly the 3rd best WR on Monday night, far behind the two Bears WRs.
