I was wondering this too...

On one hand I hear the problem is scheme....

On the other hand I hear people who watch the All-22 film/etc say Dez is constantly open -- it's just that Romo isn't looking his direction.

Which is it?
I think the scheme is crap and tony doesn't look his way or when he does look dez's way, he is gun shy. It's a combination of both.

Exactly. Tony has to throw it up to him and let him make a play. More often than not, dez will catch it. Like alshon did.

fumble or drop it more likely. Maybe pop it up for the DB to pick it off. You guys are giving Dez too much credit

maybe because romo never really had the opportunity to go to dez that often? running game was going early. chicago never punted... i still get how people blamming romo or the offense dont get that chicago NEVER FREAKIN PUNTED!! they just werent give that many offensive possessions.
Everyone understands that Chicago never punted and the defense is crap. This thread is about not getting dez enough touches. If you read the article, it shows that romo missed dez 3 times. And remember the 3rd and long where dez ran a dig and tony threw the ball 15 feet over his head?

Just stated this in another thread. Romo is too scared these days. Diving into sacks, not throwing it up even on third downs. Worst thing that can happen to a QB.
I hate it when romo thinks the pass rush is coming and he puts his head down and starts looking for a soft spot to go down.

The word "talent" is thrown around way too often with Dez. Catching the ball consistently is a talent. Running crisp routes on a play-by-play basis is a talent. Protecting the football when you are a YAC receiver is a talent. Dez is not some 6'5" freak, and while he had the ability to be the best receiver in the league it isn't going to happen unless he focuses more on the little things.

I was at the game and spent a ton of time watching Dez. He was open a ton. There is something very wrong with this offense. Romo has gone from gunslinger to Jeff Garcia.

This.

And we have heard this stuff about Romo and the offense before.

Back when TO was here and Crayton and Hurd.

There was a revolt on the offense which erupted into WR only meetings lead by TO..remember?

Witten at the time was accused that he was a 'favorite' of Romo and the other guys were open but not getting looks.

What is going on now..?

Is this Romo or the OC or the guy calling in the plays..Garrett ?

This stuff has to stop.

The name Romo KEEPS popping up.

Don't need a 3rd eye to see there is possibly a problem with letting Romo have too much leeway with the position.

Look..Parcells called Romo a .'coach-killer'.

I think a HofF HC knows of what he speaks.

He didn't stay and bailed.

Remember..?

Guys like Dez don't have to be 'open'. Keyshawn was never open but we'd still throw it to him. And he had nowhere near Dez's talent.

Romo has been so coached to be mistake-free that he's afraid to do the thing that made him famous--take risks. All good QBs take risks. It's part of the position. Just toss it up to Dez and see what happens. At least we'll get a little excitement

The real answer? Romo refuses to throw the ball down the field if there's not at least 3yds of separation. When are you people going to get the idea that Romo has no confidence in his arm or his receivers.

appears so........but why does Trestsmans scheme, Sean Paytons Scheme, Payton Mannings Scheme seem to consistenly give their receivers easy separation vrs Garretts......it cant be our DB's every play, every down, it has to be the piks, the stacks, the pre-snap movement of those other schems that give their QB's clear confident looks so that a QB can trust his own eyes........something Romo cant do.

I think part of it is Garrett's coaching style, he coaches scared and has turned Romo into a safe checkdown QB.

I think we're giving Terrified Tony too much credit. Guy threw for 100yds in a huge game in December on the road. What else is new????

look ive been perplexed by the number of targets to dez in other games where the cowboys had a more normal amount of offensive possessions but this game was all out of whack is what i am saying. its not like the offensive stalled over and over again. they were on pace to score a good amount of points given the opportunity.
