This. I don't think Cousins is a top 5 QB in this league but I do believe he is much better then many give him credit for. The Skins are not good but he has posted back to back good seasons with average talent around him, IMO.

Cousins easily scares me more than any other QB in the conference. Top 5 in guys I don't want to face as a pure passer.

And I don't understand that.

His one great stat is a season of 40 TD's.

But that comes with a completion percentage of less than 60% (which is not very good for this era) and a bunch of picks.

I don't get why all the adulation he receives from the media.

If you take out 2015 when he clearly wasn't well, then his passer rating goes from 76.5 -> 87.0 -> 96.5 -> 96.4 with 9,001 yds, nearly 8 YPA, 71 TDs to 29 Ints, and a completion % of 62.5 the latter 2 seasons.

So, yeah, a little more than just one great stat.

Eli, on the other hand, has horrible stats in the modern era in all but about 2 years. He should be tier 4 at best.

This is a classic case of hedging your bets. With Dak being a 5th round pick(basically) people are still leery that the prince will turn into pumpkin! That's what this ranking is about.

Solid ranking. Dak will be bottom 1st top 2nd by years end! Hell by week 7!

Crazy thing is if Romo were doing what Dak did and will continue to do, people would say Romo is carrying an average outfit. But with Dak, it's the greatest collection of skilled players ever!

Let's break it down:
1. This great group of skill players were 31st or 32nd in total offense in 2015. Minus Zeke as well. And if you think one running back is the difference between the offense in 2015 and 2016, you're stupid

2. Terrance Williams? Cole? Butler? Dez Bryant often inability to get separation? Witten being past his prime? Very good as a collective but people are overrating the talent of our skill players. And if I have any concerns about this season, it's the pass catchers.

3. The system. I think this is a valid claim. More so than the talent around him. Romo had his best season in this system. Cooper Rush has looked solid in it. I believe the system does enhance the efficiency!

Drew Bree's isn't a first tier guy. He's the king of enhance by the system and playing on a fast track at least 9 times a season(@ atl)

Big Ben isn't a 1st anymore. Too up and down.

I don't like stafford. Maybe he's better than I think but he's 3rd tier at best.

Eli living off two great SB runs

I liked Cousins coming out of college, he's not a second tier guy. If everything fell into place, he could possibly have a Mark Rhypien season, but he makes too many key interceptions and he doesn't make enough critical plays. He's a 9-7 at best QB! If he were 2nd tier guy, the Skins would pay him.

I would put Wilson on the 1st tier. His balls often goes to high, too far to the inside, too far to the outside, but his team really wasn't that talented last year and he got them to the playoffs.

Old shot put(Rivers) its make or break for him.

Dak did win 3 games without Dez. Vs Cincy were he made 3 of his top 8 throws of the season. @ GB were he made his second best throw of the season that Butler dropped. @ SF were he probably played his worst game!
14-2

One year does not a great QB make. He needs at least three years of consistent good seasons before you sell the house for him.

I'm already all in on Dak.

Eli is sporadic - great when their defense wins games.
Cousins - Really... Seriously.....

I think its interesting some Cowboy fans get arse hurt over Dak's ranking and the rationale to justify it when years before Dak was here the same arguments were leveled (i.e. "benefitted from run-first offense, didn't have to carry the team with his arm, etc.) were leveled at Russel Wilson to try and discredit him.

No QB has had success without great talent around him or a system that maximized their talent(New England)

Name me one!

Cam Newton and David Carr, those are the two I would put him on par with.

I am not a big fan of Cam Newton, his mechanics are very lazy.

Carr is very good, maybe better than Dak, but right now I wouldn't make that trade either.
