If you’re struggling to put together a formidable team only two weeks in, fear not, BTB is here with some advice.
Another week of fantasy football will conclude with tonight’s Eagles versus Bears matchup. As another week comes to a close there are more moves to be made. Here are a few trending waiver wire pickups to consider if you are in need of some tweaking to your championship-caliber lineups.
Quarterback
Ryan Fitzpatrick- Owned in 41% of Yahoo Leagues
Fitzy is in a frenzy putting up 41.12 points up in two games. In his last outing against the Bills defense, Fitzpatrick put up 27.06 points and was finding his targets with ease. He has command of that offense and a solid running back option in Matt Forte, the Jets are looking like a well put together offense. Fitzpatrick is a great option for those who are QB-needy.
Sam Bradford- Owned in 8% of Yahoo leagues
Sam Bradford got it done last night against the favorite in the division. With a great defense and an array of good passing targets, Bradford has looked like the quarterback that Eagles wanted when they traded for him with the Rams. Bradford put up 21.14 points in a 17-14 win against the Packers. The Panthers are up this week and are certainly a tough opponent. Still, if you need a quarterback right now, Bradford is a low-end QB1 with upside.
Running Back
Jerick McKinnon - owned in 22% of Yahoo leagues
Adrian Peterson’s knee injury is not as significant as it previously looked but it’s not likely to see him take the field even though the Vikings are not ruling him out
Jay Ajayi - owned in 27% of Yahoo leagues
Arian Foster has a groin injury and everyone is aware how these things work with him. Ajayi was likely to take over at some point anyway, looks like he’ll get his chance to start. The Dolphins would like to get their rushing game started and their opponent this week will be the Browns who have given up an average of 106 yards on the ground.
Wide Receiver
Corey Coleman – owned in 69% of Yahoo leagues
5 catches, 102 yards, 2 TDs...It’s safe to say that he’s the Cleveland Browns favorite target and Josh McCown showed he can find him. Cody Kessler will likely start this week and if he does, Coleman is the perfect receiver to get him in a rhythm.
Jamison Crowder – owned in 5% of Yahoo leagues
The Commanders are struggling to win but they aren’t struggling to pass the football and Crowder is becoming a favorite target of Kirk Cousins. They have a favorable matchup this week against the Giants who are not exactly a great passing defense.
Mike Wallace – owned in 58% of Yahoo leagues
Wallace has 12 targets, 7 catches, 132 yards, and 3 TDs in two games. If he’s available in your league, you better scoop him up. Joe Flacco has one of the strongest arms in the league and he likes to toss them up for his receivers to go get. Wallace has most certainly been the go-to guy in Baltimore and he’s white hot right now.
Cole Beasley – owned in 10% of Yahoo leagues
Dak Prescott has seemed to love the guy and he’s helped them convert third downs with the same pace as he did for Tony Romo in 2014. Beasley has been one of Dak’s best targets and he’s a great pickup for anyone that is looking for a flex guy moving forward.
Tight End
Dennis Pitta – owned in 10% of Yahoo leagues
12 targets, 9 catches, and 102 yards against Cleveland. He was the most targeted player of Joe Flacco. It’s been hard to get points out of tight ends this early in the season but Pitta is certainly one of those guys that you can be confident in on Sundays.
Jordan Cameron- owned in 16% of Yahoo leagues
After doing nothing in week one, he had almost 11 points for fantasy owners in week two. Cameron and the Dolphin got their offense started against the Patriots and have a favorable matchup against the Browns who have struggled to cover tight ends.
Kicker
Nick Novak- owned in 7% of Yahoo leagues
Novak has outplayed each of his projections in the last two weeks. He’s a solid addition to have for anyone having some struggles with their current placekicker. With the Patriots on the slate this week, their defense has done a nice job in the red zone and that makes Novak’s job all the more important.
Greg Zuerlein- owned in 1% of Yahoo leagues
Nobody is sure what the issues are with the Rams offense but when they have scored points it’s been because of their kicker. They got their first win with three field goals made by Zuerlein against the rival Seahawks.
Defense
Tennessee Titans- owned in 2% of Yahoo leagues
Titans are a must-have defense right now as they have outperformed their projections in both weeks on the NFL season. 28 points in two games and they have a matchup with the Raiders this week. The Titans seem to be sporting an underrated unit.
Detroit Lions- owned in 5% of Yahoo leagues
The Packers are up next and they have struggled to protect Aaron Rodgers and in turn, Rodgers has taken sacks and he’s turned the ball over, The Lions are division rival and they saw what the Vikings were able to do. It all starts with pressure from the Lions defense and they have a great young pass rusher in Ziggy Ansah.
