The ownership has already started its annual whining about how that big QB contract forces them to lean on Prescott to elevate the receivers, the running game, the line, the defense, special teams, concession sales, the cheerleaders, and Rowdy on game day. Those offensive line issues just add one more thing to his plate as he will likely have to move around more than he would like just to avoid sacks. You would think that if your quarterback represents such a huge investment for the team, you would do everything you could to protect and assist him.

Forgive the bitterness spilling over. It is just unfathomable why two problems that faced the team in February are still the biggest ones going into the first game of the season. And don’t forget that Peters is being signed to the practice squad while he ramps up for the regular season. It’s understandable with a veteran like him wanting to wait until the last moment to sign a deal so he avoids camp, but the result is that we will initially see a starting offensive line featuring Tyler Smith at LT and Connor McGovern at LG.

Once you roll that out, the team has to decide if it is better to keep Peters in a backup role when he is ready to play, or move Smith back inside to guard where he got all his work before, and put Peters at left tackle. On paper, that looks like the strongest line, but asking the rookie to keep moving between positions is far from ideal. Hopefully injuries will not force their hand, but at least Peters offers a better option than Josh Ball or Matt Waletzko. Once he is ready to go, of course.

Just like with wide receiver, the team made their bed with personnel decisions regarding Amari Cooper and La’el Collins, both of whom are in starting roles with other teams. And then they took the cheap way out by relying on a journeyman, rookies, inexperienced second-year players, and UDFAs. Other teams use free agency to address glaring needs, but all we get in Dallas is talk about how much space that QB eats up, dry power, and pie, pie, pie. The team had months to try and find real cures, but instead are just trying to patch things up before they bleed out. Peters is a solid, and even possibly great, addition who will pay immediate dividends just adding veteran experience and mentoring for the young’uns. But he is not the cure for the ills that reside in the owners’ suite.

You can question anything any team does, and if they don’t make a deep playoff run, it’s easy to “validate” most complaints. Fans are just speculators, so it’s really up to each of us to enjoy the game in our own way.

Is rather see Peters inside and let the rookie play tackle. That's what Dallas drafted him to eventually do, right? Now seems to be a good time to start.

At this rate, the Cowboys best strategy would be to put 12 men on the field and hope the refs don't notice the extra offensive lineman.

I have been saying for the past several years that this Oline is this team's biggest weakness/problem, and I was bashed by several posters while having Tyron Smith, Zack Martin and La'el Collins thrown in my face.

I actually agree.......for Tyler it's like playing next to your coach who you know will have your back. Can't help but think this would give him a little more confidence and a chance to actually APPLY the knowledge and tips he will get from Peters, even during games. Think about it, what good are and experience as a LT if Tyler can't use them until 2023? Hell, I say let him play his future position NOW with his job coach next to him.

    Nope.

Leave Tyler Smith inside at Guard, and surround him with veterans in Jason Peters and Tyler Biadasz.

Mod should bench those posters for a week........lol. Hell we let TWO starters WALK, another one can't stay on the field and just about every poster/fan wanna replace our center. Maybe it is time we should be honest and admit, that this OLine needs rebuilding.

Agree on everything, but I'm one of those posters who feels Farniok is better than Biadasz. Hope Biadasz proves me wrong, because he's going to get a super tough task this Sunday against Vita Vea and the Bucs veteran Dline.

The rebuilding should have started 3 years ago.

It really is hilarious . . . In 2016 when Dak had the greatest Offensive Line ever assembled in the History of Football . . . The Sky was the limit. . . . Now that His O Line is Average. . . . Its poor poor Dak . How can he be expected to perform? . . . Oh the sky is falling

Its gonna be fun watching the post game interviews with Dak . . . This will be the year He will have to use all His "Intangiables" lol . . .

That's fine, but for what purpose? He has to play tackle eventually. They didn't draft him to play guard. That was only while Tyron was still there.

Peters probably won't even start week 1. Where are they putting the rookie? At tackle. If he can hold his own, Peters will most likely go inside.

When these QBs and their teams have reached and done well in the playoffs...
    • Rodgers has had a good Oline and good receivers.
    • Mahomes has had a good Oline and good receivers.
    • Brady has had a good Oline and good receivers.
    • Wilson has had a good Oline and good receivers.
    • Stafford has had a good Oline and good receivers.
But poor poor Dak? Nah, he doesn't need any stinking good Oline or stinking good receivers. So many of his haters here say so. o_O:confused:

True. Tyler Smith will start at LT Week 1 since Peters is not in game shape. It's going to be rough for Tyler since he has not practiced or played LT all summer long.

When Peters feels he's physically ready to play, he will start at LT while Tyler will slide back inside to LG. Probably won't be until either Game 2 or 3.

Just taking your first sentence, the whole CAP evolution is based on that very scenario. When you have a Franchise QB he is there to elevate the offensive game which is populated by rookie/cheaper options. When he's on Rookie contract you should have the CAP space to keep veterans around him (in Dak's instance that was only partially true as we so much Dead Money to Romo and Bryant).

If we are going to look at the situation in hindsight....you're missing out that releasing/cutting Coop and La'el (and the team friendly restructuring of Tank) were designed to free up money for Randy (who's fiasco is actually Stephen's best work for the franchise) and try and redress some of the issues of the (for an ownership, who want to be seen to be competing year after year). The harsh reality was that as we facing two year (2022 and 2023) where we were already in virtual deficit something had to go.

The Jones' have created (for 2022) a roster that continues to be viable both commercially and competitive on the field....whilst resetting the CAP (remembering one years CAP can be negotiated via the signing bonus and restructuring).

My biggest concern is that this was all achieved, by mistake, thanks to Randy choosing Denver. At which point the majority of decent FA's were off the market (not that I think we would of made a play for them).....we do 'just enough to compete' (and dont plan for expected concerns)

Regarding Brady, one could argue until TB he never really had top tier WR's yet he reached success numerous times.

Lol . . . you totally missed my point. . . . Dak does need a great O line and Great Wide Receivers. . . which He has had and which has made Him

Now that He doesn't have them He will sink like a stone

But please Don't Cry all year about it as en excuse
