Oh yes, the preseason is back which means NFL social media is a blaze. Here’s the social media recap from the HOF game.
Social media is a buzz as Football is back…well, kind of. The Cowboys just wrapped up their first of five preseason exhibition games. The score Cowboys 20, Cardinals 18 is really not the important factor here but that hardly stops the Twitter world from reactions and overreactions. Here’s your social media break down from the festivities:
Pregame:
In a few days, Jerry Jones will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. That's really what the gathering for an exhibition game was all about.
Just one thing that needed to be shared before the kickoff was Jerry’s walk to the 50-yard line, it was a great moment as he was met by his veteran players.
Jerry received congratulation hugs from Jason Witten, Sean Lee, Dan Bailey, Orlando Scandrick, and of course, Dez Bryant.

Dez is just the “Man of the Offseason” for me, how about you?

It was not a pretty start for the Cowboys as their defense was dominated by the Cardinals with Blaine Gabbert at quarterback. Bruce Arians seemed to have Gabbert playing much better than last season with the 49ers. Still, come on Dallas, can’t make it that easy:

Just four minutes and 14 seconds in and Arizona is on the board for the 7-0 lead. It was a quick three-and-out for Dallas, then it got uglier. Gabbert took them right back down and Andre Ellington ran it in from four yards out:
DAL D has given up plays of 34, 20 & 26 yds on pass plays in the first 2 ARI possessions.

It got even worse as the Cowboys committed penalties on the PAT, Gabbert ran it in for two, out come the jokes:
You may have read a story or two from training camp about how good the Cowboys defense has looked. We apologize. Arizona takes 15-0 lead.

Somewhere in America there's a Cowboys fan who waited all day for this, and who is genuinely livid about what's happening. I love it so much

And for the sake of opposites, let’s add injury to insult, we got another hammy!
Cowboys cornerback Anthony Brown suffered a hamstring strain and will not return. Brown started the game and... https://t.co/kDMxJLk1v0

Thankfully after allowing eight first downs for the Cardinals, Kellen Moore gave the Cowboys’ their first with a 46-yard dime to Brice Butler:

A few plays later, Moore finds Rico Gathers, on 3rd and 11, for an absolute manhood-taking touchdown:
Just throw it up to the basketball player...
Let him take care of the rest.

Dez Bryant is all of cowboyszone reacting to that play:

Brice Butler hauls in another awesome grab to set up Cowboys field goal, Cardinals 15 Cowboys 10:

For as much as Darren McFadden didn’t seem to look like Ezekiel Elliott’s best backup option, Alfred Morris certainly did. He had some really nice runs where he was too hard for the Cardinals to catch. Watch him roast these birds and make it look like Madden:
After halftime, it became the Cooper Rush and Rod Smith show but check out this other highlight play for Rico:
A few plays later, Cooper Rush delivers the easy toss to Uzoma Nwachukwu for the lead, 17-15 Cowboys.

Rod Smith was an absolute finisher on his runs, he didn’t get the stats but plays like this showed you what he’s about:

The last highlight worthy play actually came from a former quarterback, Jameill Showers:

The Cowboys would leave no time on the clock for the Cardinals as they get the win 20-18.
The team will stay in Canton and watch as owner Jerry Jones gets enshrined, the next official practice will be Monday. It’s preseason but a victory still feels good for the weekend.
