Jason Garrett held his Friday press conference and gave an update on some of his stars going into the game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Coach Garrett said Dez Bryant will not practice on Friday but refused to rule him out for Sunday’s game. Reading between the lines, it’s probably 99% sure that Bryant will not participate in Sunday’s game. But, he hasn’t officially been ruled out yet. The team says it’s a pain issue, not worrying about further damage, that will determine his eligibility.
Tyron Smith might practice on Friday, but even if he did he would be limited. It’s starting to sound more doubtful that the Cowboys will have their big left tackle available for a second week in a row, but we’ll have to wait and see if he actually participates at all in Friday’s practice. Coach Garrett did say they don’t think the back issue is related to the stinger issues he was having previously. Jerry Jones said the issue is more like spasms and they will probably wait until Sunday to determine his eligibility.
Garrett also said that Orlando Scandrick’s hamstring issues have improved and that they were close to playing him last week, so maybe the corner will see action this week against the 49ers.
