Nothing you're doing right now is more important than this pick 'em challenge. You may think you have something more important to do, but trust me, you are mistaken.
Hey BTB community,
This will be the fifth consecutive year that we'll be running a pick 'em contest for the frontpage writers here on BTB. But instead of doing business as usual, we've decided to open up the competition to all of our readers.
Here is how this thing is going to work:
Pick 256 is a season-long contest in which BTB members and readers get to pick the straight-up winners for all games each week. Each week we'll provide an online entry form for BTB readers to input their picks. Here's the link to the Week 1 entry form:
Week 1 Pick 256 Entry Form
The entry form will usually be posted on BTB on Tuesdays. Submissions have to be in by kickoff time of the first game of the week, usually the Thursday Night game. To keep a level playing field for everybody, late submissions will not be accepted (all entries are time-stamped). This gives you a two to three day window for your pick submission.
A summary of the weekly winners will be announced on BTB, usually on Tuesdays, and we will tally the results over the entire 17 weeks of the regular season.
I will try to post a fanpost on Friday/Saturday with everybody's picks for the weekend, which will allow you to track your performance as the games go on.
Important Technical Stuff
The entry form looks as follows:
The form contains all games of the particular week, with the home team always listed as the second choice. You have to pick a winner for each game, or you will not be able to submit the form.
The checkboxes allow you to pick one of the two teams for the win. This is a straight-up challenge, we are not picking against the spread. The odds listed are for reference only; they are the odds at the time the form was put together, and may change subsequently.
Submit only one pick sheet per person, and make sure you include your (correctly spelled) BTB user name. What's the use of competing for bragging rights if nobody knows who you are?
Editing Your Picks
Once you've successfully entered your picks and have pressed 'Submit' at the bottom of the entry form, you'll be taken to a 'Thank You' page like the one below.
Please click 'Edit your response,' and you'll be taken to the form below, from where you can edit your input immediately. Once there, bookmark the URL of the page in the address line of your browser, or copy and save the URL somewhere for later use.
Important: Going to that specific URL and saving or bookmarking it is the only way to edit your picks at a later point.
With all of the technical stuff out of the way, good luck with your picks. Now proceed directly to the entry form:
