It's a pretty good point about the redshirts. Garrett has a team of redshirts and his job depends on em kinda. I think these guys are gonna punch some people in the face for him. Don't over look the value of having "YOUR" people playing for your job said JG to the people predicting his doom.

We shall see.. an impact from at least two from that list would be helpful... I'm hoping Crawford & Dunbar. The hype tells me Bass can make it three.

Just for the sake of argument [god forbid], This is a buyers market.
What if a good valued trade for a great player fall to us?
With Melton in the fold could we still need Donald?

Besides Spencer that's just a list of guys with potential that have never really helped this team other than Dunbar against Oakland. If Matt Johnson even walks over to the trainers table this year Jerry better be standing there with his bus ticket home, because enough is enough. Crawford and Bass have potential but they have to stay healthy, Bass, IMO is in the same boat as Johnson going into camp this year.

Exactly. Other than maybe Crawford, those are just a bunch of injured guys coming back. Every team has those.

Yeah I'd rather have San Francisco's medical redshirts in Tank Carradine & Marcus Lattimore than that list.

Seriously. "Medical Redshirt"? What an adorable name for injury prone nobodies.

I would not call Crawford and Dunbar as injury prone. those are injuries that can happen to any player at any time. Rather in camp, ota's, preseason or regular season games.
Johnson and Bass, yes after 2 years of injuries, you can say injury prone. Heck, you can even add Sean Lee in there, as well as Demarcus Ware over the last 2 years.

But I agree, if we get production out of 2 of them, that is a plus.

I think we all knew already we had some injured guys coming back. If we get anything out of them, that's great. Crawford is pretty much a no-brainer to be a major contributor. The rest are role players or long shots (Spencer), but they all have the potential to upgrade the role players we were trotting out at those positions last year, at least.

What's the status of Dunbar's injury? He had the potential to be a huge change-of-pace for us if he proved able to hold onto the football, but I thought his injury was thought to be possibly career threatening. Anybody hear anything on him recently?

If Johnson plays an actual game and gets smoked this board will explode.

It's probably a safe bet that the topic will explode no matter what the outcome is if Johnson is on the field. At this point, the divide between the let's-see-what-he's-got and the we're-sure-he's-got-nothing crowds is pretty pronounced. I'd just really like to see the guy play a bit more, even in preseason games, to get a better sense of what's going on there.

The funny thing about M Johnson was that he was generally healthy in college. This is a huge TC and pre-season for him. Pretty much make or break (no pun intended).

Thought I read he missed his senior season with an injury

edit:He played in 45 games for Eastern Washington and was an All-American at the FCS level, but missed most of his senior season after suffering a left biceps tendon injury while playing special teams Sept. 10. He gutted through the pain for five games before being sidelined for the remained of the season.
