Hurry up, football season.
As it sits right now, we are getting closer and closer to Dallas Cowboys football. While there was no Hall of Fame game to watch, we are beginning to hear from players and coaches as we approach the 2020 regular season.
Amari Cooper spoke with the media earlier in the week, where he explained why he chose to stay in Dallas rather than leaving for more money while also saying that the team expects to have a trio of 1,000-yard pass-catchers. Cooper is known as a soft-spoken individual, so it was very interesting to hear his confidence regarding the offense.
Head coach Mike McCarthy took to the podium on Friday, addressing topics such as quarterback Dak Prescott, offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, what training camp will look like, where Chidobe Awuzie will play in the secondary and more. McCarthy’s comments regarding the quarterback and offensive coordinator have to be exciting.
The Super Bowl-winning coach spoke glowingly of Prescott, and he explained that second-year coordinator Moore has impressed the veteran coach. Regarding Prescott, McCarthy said that “he’s looked very good” throwing the ball and that he is “very impressive”.

McCarthy went on to say that the biggest adjustment for the fifth-year signal-caller will be learning the offensive language that comes with McCarthy’s offense. After learning the Jason Garrett system for the first four seasons of his professional career, it will be fascinating to see how quickly Prescott will be able to pick that up in the first year of the McCarthy regime during an unusual offseason.
Having Moore still in the building should help ease the transition and lessen the learning curve as Prescott also looks to build a connection with rookie CeeDee Lamb and improve his rapport with tight end Blake Jarwin.

As for Moore, who was elevated to offensive coordinator prior to the 2019 season for the first time in his young career, McCarthy has come away impressed. The former Boise State star quarterback has long been thought of a bright football mind, and he was able to show a little bit of what he is capable of doing in his first season as play-caller as the Cowboys were at or near the top of the league in numerous offensive categories.

Interestingly enough, if Kellen Moore had not fractured his ankle early in training camp back in 2016, we may not have been able to see Dak Prescott unleash his talent on the football field. Now, the 32-year-old offensive mind and the 27-year-old quarterback are determined to produce one of the best passing attacks in all of football.
During their first season together as play-caller and signal-caller, Prescott threw for nearly 5,000 yards, accounted for 33 touchdowns, and completed 65% of his passes. We truly saw Prescott take the next step in his development while putting together his finest season of his NFL career to this point.
With Prescott having his best season as a passer in 2019, combined with Moore having more influence on the offense, we saw the passing attack take off in a big way. Both Amari Cooper (1,189 yards, eight touchdowns) and Michael Gallup (1,107 yards, six touchdowns) recorded over one thousand yards receiving and each averaged more than 15 yards per catch. Additionally, Randall Cobb was less than 200 yards away from joining that duo in the 1K club.
Cooper is confident that the team will have as many as three reach the mark in 2020, and McCarthy likes the way that his Pro Bowl wideout thinks.

The offense truly became explosive with Prescott throwing the football and Moore leaving his fingerprints on the offense. Cooper proved why he is one of the best talents at the wide receiver position in the league, and Gallup broke out in a big way despite missing two games to injury.
With Mike McCarthy now in charge, the expectations surrounding the offense are off the charts. McCarthy has a proven, successful track record of developing offenses and, especially, the quarterback position. The former Packers head man is impressed with what he has seen so far from his franchise signal-caller and his young coordinator.
Prescott’s and Moore’s first season together as QB and OC produced strong results in the passing game. Adding a veteran and successful coach such as McCarthy to the equation has to make you want football season to hurry up in arriving.
