The Cowboys will not get Earl Thomas, must now look elsewhere for safety help.

The Dallas Cowboys have been linked to Earl Thomas ever since Christmas Eve of 2017.

The star safety chased down Jason Garrett and told him to come get him if he had the chance. Dallas tried with all their might to acquire him via a trade an offseason ago, and this year with Thomas as a free agent that chance became all the more feasible.

It’s over, though. Earl Thomas won’t be playing with the Cowboys. He’s joining the Baltimore Ravens according to Adam Schefter.


Former Seahawks’ S Earl Thomas intends to sign a four-year, $55 million deal that includes $32 million fully guaranteed at signing with the Baltimore Ravens, league source tells ESPN. Deal includes $22 million in first nine months.

Thomas’ deal with the Ravens is for $13.75M per season which is territory that the Cowboys have been vocal about not wanting to live. $14M seemed to be the going rate for safeties like Landon Collins and Tyrann Mathieu, Earl Thomas has a reputation of that caliber.

Dallas will need to look at other venues to pair someone with Xavier Woods long-term if they are indeed intent on replacing Jeff Heath. Either way, we know that he won’t be joining the Cowboys. The dream is dead.
