A quick review of the latest power rankings, where they rank the Cowboys, and where they rank the rest of the NFC East.
The Cowboys have won seven games in a row. The next best win streak is just four games, by the 7-1 Patriots and the 6-2 Chiefs, which makes the Cowboys easily the hottest team in the league right now.
But being hot apparently doesn't mean much in Power Rankings country, as all 10 of the power rankings we surveyed today have the pesky Patriots ranked at No. 1, and all 10 have the Cowboys at No. 2.
Here's where 10 different power rankings see the Cowboys, and a little further down you'll see their verdict for the other NFC East teams.
Power Rankings
Week 10 Rankings (previous rankings in parenthesis)
FOX Sports - No. 2 (2)
It wasn’t just that the Cowboys beat the Browns – they were supposed to do that. It’s that they absolutely dominated them in all three facets of the game, rolling to a 35-10 victory. Dak Prescott may have entrenched himself in the starting quarterback role with another near-perfect performance, and Ezekiel Elliott continues to roll as the top running back in football.
CBSSports.com (Prisco) - No. 2 (2)
The quarterback situation is clouding the fact that the defense has improved a lot this season. Rod Marinelli has done a nice job.
NFL.com: No. 2 (2)
The engine keeps on humming nice and smooth. The Cowboys entered Week 9 as the only team in the NFL that had run more than passed, almost unheard of in today's pro football. And you know what? The mixture didn't change in Cleveland. Dallas ran the football 42 times versus 28 throws, a recipe I'm sure Jason Garrett would like to keep up in Pittsburgh on Sunday. That said, Ezekiel Elliott "only" rushed for 92 yards. He also averaged 5.1 yards per carry. Oh, and scored two touchdowns.
Shutdown Corner - No. 2 (2)
Ezekiel Elliott had just 18 carries on Sunday, only the second time he hasn’t reached 20 carries in his rookie season. Maybe Jason Garrett is realizing that he doesn’t need to keep giving Elliott the ball in blowout wins just because he can.
Bleacher Report - No. 2 (2)
We know how dominant the run game is. We know how accurate Dak Prescott can be. But those two work perfectly together to produce bootlegs and draws and other massive plays. Prescott always has the advantage of one-on-one coverage on the edges too. This Cowboys team is the class of the NFC. It’d take a special run-stuffing opponent or a horrific day from Prescott to knock them off their perch.
New York Daily News - No. 2 (2)
Dak Prescott and Ezkiel Elliott are the headliners, but did you know that Rod Marinelli's defense is the only one that hasn't allowed a 100-yard rusher or 100-yard receiver in a game this year? The hottest team in the league goes for a franchise-tying eighth consecutive win when they travel to Pittsburgh this week.
USA Today - No. 2 (2)
ESPN - No. 2 (2)
Rookie QB Dak Prescott has won seven straight games for the Cowboys and is only the third rookie since the 1970 merger to win that many games. But Prescott is not the only rookie making an impact. Rookie RB Ezekiel Elliott is on pace for 1,782 rushing yards this season, which would be the second most of all time by a rookie (Eric Dickerson, 1,808 in 1983).
Washington Post - No. 2 (3)
The win in Cleveland was easy. QB Dak Prescott is getting more comfortable with TE Jason Witten as a security-blanket receiving option. The trip to Pittsburgh this weekend could bring a difficult matchup with a Steelers team badly in need of a victory after Sunday’s ugly performance in Baltimore.
The table below summarizes the power rankings for the four NFC East teams and for the Cowboys' next opponent, the Steelers.
