The NFL wasted little time reinstating the suspension

The news broke earlier today that Ezekiel Elliott’s preliminary injunction that was allowing him to play in games was overturned by the 5th Circuit of Appeals. That cleared the way for the NFL to reinstate Zeke’s suspension as soon as they wanted. Word is, that timeframe is immediately.

“Earlier today, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals vacated the preliminary injunction that prohibited the league from imposing the six-game suspension issued to Ezekiel Elliott for a violation of the Personal Conduct Policy. The Court also directed the district court to dismiss the union’s lawsuit which was filed on Elliott’s behalf. As a result, Elliott’s suspension will begin effective immediately. Elliott is eligible to return to the team on Friday, November 24 following the Cowboys’ Thursday, November 23 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.”

Since the Cowboys are on a bye and will not be practicing again until next week, Elliott and the NFLPA have time to file their request for a new preliminary injunction in court before the suspension actually makes him miss time.

If the suspension stays in place, Zeke would miss games against San Francisco, Washington, Kansas City, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Los Angeles (Chargers).
