Any way you look at it, the NFC East is in awful shape this year, but can the Cowboys take advantage of that?
Eight weeks into the 2015 NFL season, the NFC East doesn't have a single team with a winning record. The Giants lead the NFC East standings with a 4-4 record, the other three teams all have more losses than wins. The Cowboys, after a five-game losing streak, find themselves at the bottom of the NFC East table with a 2-5 record.
Since realignment in 2002, the NFC East has been in this bad a shape only once. In 2013, the division didn't have a single team with a winning record either. The Cowboys topped the table with a 4-4 record after Week 8, but would end the season at 8-8.
But what has never happened since 2002 is that there wasn't a single team with a winning record after Week 9 in the NFC East. That such a scenario is even possible this week showcases the sad state of the NFC East this year.
The Giants travel to Tampa Bay and a loss there could drop them to 4-5. BTB readers participating in our Pick 256 Challenge only have the Giants as slight favorites against the Bucs. Those same readers like the Cowboys over the Eagles, with 81% of the votes coming in for a Cowboys win, and only one person out of this week's 205 participants picked the Commanders over the Patriots in Boston.
Here's an overview of how the votes went for all the Week 9 games.

Any way you look at it, the NFC East is in awful shape this year. And that winning the East would have been a walk in the park if Tony Romo had stayed healthy is maddening. But even without Romo, the East is still there for the taking - if the Cowboys win against the Eagles tonight.
What's your feeling for the game tonight?
Here's a link to the Excel file with all the picks for Week 9, for those who are interested in tracking the results themselves.
