News: BTB: Odell Beckham Jr. could miss his Week 1 date with the Dallas Cowboys

Ezekiel Elliott is already slated to miss Week 1’s annual Cowboys/Giants contest, could Odell Beckham Jr. be absent as well?

When the New York Giants visited the Cleveland Browns during Week 2 of the preseason’s riveting edition of Monday Night Football their star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. left the game with an injury (as did Brandon Marshall).

While it seemed as if OBJ escaped relatively unscathed, a Tuesday night report could have Giants fans sweating a little. Odell could miss the September 10th season opener in Dallas.

Odell Beckham Jr.'s ankle injury could potentially keep the New York Giants wide receiver out of the season opener, sources told ESPN's Jordan Raanan and Dan Graziano.

Shining the spotlight on him a bit, he really hates that, the Giants and Cowboys have squared off six times since New York drafted Odell. The first half of those were wins in the Dallas column, with the Giants evening the score over the last season and a half. A Cowboys and Giants game would feel absent without OBJ.

Odell’s ankle is going to be the subject of extreme debate over the next 18 days, but since we’re talking about a part of the human body we should consult a medical professional! An Odell-less Giants team would obviously be far less threatening, even more so if Brandon Marshall was ailing or absent himself. The Cowboys know about absentees though as they will be without the services of Ezekiel Elliott, David Irving, and Damontre Moore.

Situations like this involving a high-profile player for a division rival typically illicit one of three responses:

• I hope he’s alright, I want to beat them at full force so they don’t have any excuses.
• He’s faking. This is all drummed up to distract the Cowboys, don’t believe it!
• Odell should really take it easy on the recovery, you know, for his health. I hope he misses the game!
